I am 95% a StampinUp user. I'm not an online looker/buyer and rarely go into any craft stores, an hour away from the closest ones. I know I would spend more than I need to if I shop online and I have long since discovered that what my eyes don't see, my heart doesn't long for haha!
So a StampinUp customer here my favourite stamps are flowers, vintage, not cutesy or trendy.
Almost all of my stamps are Stampin Up. I bought a few from Michaels when I first started stamping maybe 15 years ago. I also bought a few from Cornish Heritage Farms at one point. Other than that, I have zillions of SU stamps.
Tons - Altenew, Hero Arts, My Favorite Things, many others that are made similarly. It's not like with inks that have widely varying characteristics, and much lower or higher quality.
90% Stampin Up. They were the first to provide color consistency among paper, ink, embellishments, at least that I knew of. Stampin UP made stamping 1000% easier for me, and I still love their stuff.
I also love Art Impressions, Stampabilities, Sweet n Sassy Stamps.
My current favorite is SU's Paisleys and Posies.
OT - just a little history question? When SCS began, were all members Stampin' Up users or demos? I have a vague recollection I read that somewhere, but could be/often am mistaken. Thanks!
B jeans,
I wasn't around then, but I believe the answer to your question is yes. A SU demonstrator created it as a way for her to communicate with her downline probably on different coasts.
I buy from Papertrey Ink, Altenew, Concord & 9th and Hero Arts, pretty much in that order. My favorite stamps are florals.

Altenew, Papertrey Ink, and Simon Says Stamo are the ones I reach for most often. I have some SU that feels vital to have at the time, and then I don't use it as often as I think I will.
I shop with many many vendors both big and tiny. Were you thinking about a particular category like florals, animals, real looking, outlines...?
I like owls, birds, penguins, flowers, holiday and seasons themed sets, borders, hearts. I am loving the matching dies as well. anything that has to do with my favorite hobbies like cooking, baking, sewing, crafting. I am a card maker, scrapbooker, papercrafter, love to do altered stuff especially for home decor and my soon to be craft room. And i love to make gifts packaging as well as the gift!
so far I have purchased papertrey( love their stamps) and the stamps of life( first time order coming soon). I have some older hero arts stamps as well.

I agree everything coordinating is my go to as well. I think thats why i am drawn to papertrey and the stamps of life so far. I did order two SU punches owl builder and triple banner. I need to see what else they offer. will be looking at SU online soon. I know alot of people love their products.
I have stamps from 65 different companies in my collection, but Unity is my current favorite - especially Angie Girls and sentiments. Angie Girls (and lots of other cool stamps) are on sale until midnight tonight, shipping is only $3.00, and you get freebies, too - what you get depends on how much you spend...
If you like matching die sets...look at Lawn Fawn. They just released a cute new cooking stamp set that has a matching die-actually two dies. Very cute oven image-you might be able to open the door with the secondary die? I got their smoothie set myself. Pricey-might wait for a sale.
Florals-my current fav is Power Poppy. But Penny Black, Impression Obsession, Peddlers Pack, Altenew does the stamp layering nicely...I kind of collect flowers as I see them for particular flowers. Technique Tuesday's Greenhouse series and Our Daily Bread Designs both do nice ones. ODBD will have sets or stand alone images and have matching dies. If cool topiary would interest you, Michelle Masters is very cool. Michele Master Cling Mount Stamps
I cant say I have a ton of border stamps-I tend to have border dies.
One way I have educated myself about whose stamp art style I like is to surf ebay-right now they say they have 8500 plus heart images. But there are all kinds. I set for 192 per page gallery format and just run. Plus you could see some that are from discontinued companies. Which is NOT to say just buy it! Compare prices there and wait awhile.
Occasionally I need a stamp set for a last minute occasion when there's no time to order from a favorite company, and my LSS doesn't have what I need. In that case searching on Amazon often does the trick, and kind of like wavejumper referred to, it's a way to get a sense of what's out there from many companies.
We're baseball season ticket holders, and I wanted a baseball set to make a card for our usher for this past weekend. I found a great set on Amazon, although it was not made in the U.S., which is my preference.
I'm 99% Fun Stampers Journey! I love the fact that so many of the sets have coordinating dies. When I started with them I purged most of my other stamps, although I do have a couple I just couldn't part with.

Like you I did keep some of my favorites. I purged many stamps years ago because of divorce and moving. Didn't want to do it but had no choice. Now all these stamps have matching dies and I am able to start purchasing again so I am happy I get rid of my old stamps.
I have just recently joined Fun Stampers Journey and so as we speak, I must say that FSJ has the greatest. I like that they are rubber and not the clear photopolymer. I like that they have so many different embellishments to choose from and so on. I was with Stampin' Up for 4 years and thought there wasn't anything else better or anything out there worth my money. But I have since found that AI makes a line of stamps with older ladies that I am crazy about. Stampscapes is another of my favorite. I am drawn to vintage and shabby chic, floral, and faith based stamp themes.
And Stampscapes...what a cool concept. A series of stamps you can mix and match to make wonderful landscapes. Not cheap but very great looking when done well!
Some of my favorites are Gina K, Paper Smooches, MFT, Whipper Snapper and Simon Says Stamp! I have a few from other companies but these I purchase from the most!
BTW, while the stamps I've purchased from many companies seem to be of equal quality, they don't all provide the same customer service level. That would be a different topic. : )
Thought of another one: Tupelo Designs LLC, which carries many companies' stamps plus some hard-to-find items - like from Barbara Gray.
No charge for shipping, which is lightening fast, and they include a little packet of unusual embellishments, plus wrap the items with a ribbon and include a card with a photo of their dog (since passed away) that their company is named for.
