Default Sponges

Do you "assign" a sponge to each color or ink pad? Or can you clean the sponges and use them on different pads every time? I've only used my sponges a couple of times because I don't want to use them up -- pretty stupid, I know. Why even HAVE them if I don't want to use them?! But I have to feel something is REALLY "sponge-worthy" to use it! :lol:

I just go to Wally World and buy the make-up sponges that are cut into triangles. They work great and are cheap for a big bag full. Then I don't feel guilty using a different one for each color. :oops:

I just started using them and I just wash them out after I'm done and they work great the next time. Not sure If I'm suppose to but can't imagine why not.

Default sponges

I cut my sponges into wedges. After I have used them, I run them under water until they run clean and lat them out to dry. You can use them over and over for different colors.

"sponge-worthy" :lol: :lol: :lol:

I also cut my sponges into wedges. I keep them in mason jar on the shelf above my stamp table ( I have a lot of them - love them!). I have a plastic tray that I throw them in when they are dirty (inky) and when I get enough dirty ones I put them in a lingerie bag and wash them in the washing machine on gentle and air dry them. Works great! No fuss! They are still stained, but clean. Back to the mason jar!

I cut mine into wedges and would try to use them on similar colors.

Then I read about washing them - and I gotta tell you, it was a DUH moment. A SPONGE, DUH DUH DUH I could wash them. So I got one of those wire baskets you can latch and put in your dishwasher, and I put a bunch in there every now and then and wash them.

However, for my daubers, when I use a dauber, I put a file folder tab label around the dauber and keep it for that color.

You definitely want to wash them. I have some that I haven't washed. Certain inks....purple seems to be one....tend to rot the sponge over a long period of time.

Besides if you don't wash them and you need one for that special color you sometimes get colors you don't want from residue left over. BUT, OTOH, sometimes that mistake makes a super card. This happened to me when I made the card below. Didn't want green in it at all. The Orange round sponge was hiding a little green in it and voila.

Besides, A little sponge is certainly cheaper than having to redo a card after you have spent a lot of time on it.
