Spellbinders Shapeabilities die D-Lite cattails

I was wondering if you have used this particular die. I have been struggling for the last hour trying to separate the card from the die without damaging the cut out.

I have a big shot and the die does not seem to cut completely in some areas. Have you had any problems>

First idea that pop to mind that may help is wax paper.

Yes I am beginning to think it is not fit for purpose and returning it.
