Just a quick question, how do you all sort your paper? I have mostly SU paper and I don't know if I should sort by color or sort by group? Also what do you do with your scraps? Do you sort by color or just put in a box? Please help.
I bought clear 12x12 pocket folders for my paper (they come in 8.5 x11) and I put one Su color in each pocket and stick the label on the pocket. I then store them on cube shelving and put one color family per cube. HTH
I sort my 8 1/2 x 11 by Color, and my 12x12 by family grouping and pattern grouping - like sets go together, such as
spring flowers and spring showers together and so on.
As far as scraps go it depends on how big, once they are too small to cover a card front they get seperated by color even the patterned paper.
Mine are all in file folders and accordian organizers for the 12x12.
There are a million ways to sort them but what works for you is what works best.
Hope this gives you a few ideas.

I group my color families together, and then organize by color within the families. If Ballet, Brocade and Bordering Blue are all next to each other, I can tell at a glance which is which!

my 8-1/2 x 11 are in a 4 drawer filing cabinet, each paper has its own folder with a plastic page protector in the front for the scraps. These are filed alphabetically. My 12 x 12 papers are stored in a cropper hopper class tote, by which season they are for, or by who makes it. I have all my SU papers together, but I don't have very many of the SB papers, and even less 12 x 12 card stock (only have the in colors variety pack). This works for now, I know I will need to organize my 12 x 12's better eventually

I've organized my 8-1/2 x 11 papers into 6 clear acrylic magazine holders. I bought them at Target for $1.89 each. They hold approx. 200 sheets per holder. I have one for each SU color family, one for the '07 In Colors, and one for neutral colors. I like them because they're very sturdy. They fit on a bookshelf, and I can see at a glance how much of which color I have, or which colors I need to order.
I have a small Post-It note with the color name as a tab on the first sheet of that color. If I use the last sheet, I place the Post-It on the spine of the holder. This reminds me which colors to re-order as well.
I use a vertical file with a folder for each individual color. Comes in handy when other people use it too, so there is a place to put everything back.

My SU 8.5x11 is in hanging folders by color within color families in a plastic file box. Scraps are kept in the same color folder as the full sheets. I only save something 2x2 or larger.
My SU 12x12 is by color family in the holders sold in the back of the SU catalog
My other papers/cardstocks are in Generations cases

not being a demo, I file alphabetical by name of colors, in a covered
container that is large enough for the cardstock, but not much bigger.
This way I can always see the colors at a glance, learn the names, and see
when I need to reorder, never been disappointed either. Carolyn
sorry, I read your posting too fast, I sort my PAPER by seasonal themes,
other themes. Colored paper would be by color families, scraps are in carrying accordion type case and the alphabetical titles are replaced by the color family names. Good luck, we can never be to organized Carolyn
I keep everybit of small scraps as testers for ink color, bleaching and the making sure I have my settings right on the Cricut. I, too, am organizationally challanged!! Thanks for all the tips on storage.
I use file folders for my 8 1/2 x 11 paper and file it in a file drawer alphabetically. The scraps are in the front of the whole pieces of paper. That way, everything goes in the same place and scraps are easy to find and put away.
12x12 paper is in a crate on wheels and is filed by holiday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc, stripes, flowers, or by colors alphabetically. The named folders are filed alphabetically in front and the plain colors are filed behind those alphabetically.
