Default shaker christmas card, am I stupid???

So for some reason I chose a shaker card for my christmas card for family and special people. Am I stupid??? I made 10 of them yesterday and it took like 3 hours! Man, I am thinking this was a mistake!

Yeah, what are you freaking nuts???? I decided last year to make 100 embossed ornaments to send out in my cards. I got about 1/2 way done and realized I was crazy. I was going to put a nice silver edging on all of the layers. Riiiiight! I did finish, though. Never again.

Yep, nutty as a fruit cake!

I made about 7 for my craft show & was thinking I'd send any that were left over (kinda wasn't expecting to sell any Xmas cards) - but according to my friend one lady fell in love with them & bought them all! & now I'm probably going to just send out some left over store bought cards (from before I was introduced to SU)...rather than try to make more - hehehehe...

Stupid? I don't like to call people that. How about ambitious?? ;)

I've decided that this year, when it comes to family & friends (I usually send out over 60 cards a year) that they will only get a card from us if we receive one from them...and more than likely, it'll be one of the cards I have left over from before my stamping days!!

I'm justifying it this way: I am making all my baby thank you cards and I will be making several (not all--my mil told me that she needs 20-25 herself) birth announcements. That will be plenty for me to do!!

I do plan to send out some CRAKs, though... Stamping friends are "special"!! (And I don't mean short-bus-to-school special.)

Default Add me to the stupid list....

I've been having Christmas Stamp A Stacks since September so I have no clue how December rolled around without me even starting on my own cards! After seeing Beate's tutorial on the swing card, I knew I had to use those for our Christmas cards.....MAN, AM I "AMBITIOUS" (I prefer that to stupid, too ;) )!!!!

70 cards later....I think I'm "carded out"....

I thought putting embossing on a card was a mistake. I bet your card looks great and all your hard work will pay off!!!

I embossed and made shakers for 10 cards then quit..........it was way too much work. So 10 lucky people are getting 10 embossed shaker cards, the rest are getting very simple cards.

I made the shaker cards in my gallery (don't know how to link, sorry) for about 30 people, then did the faux postage for the rest! It took me a while, but I did bits and pieces at a time - while watching TV.

Well you are quicker then I- I joined a swap for shaker cards to force me to learn how to make them and the 6 I had to make took over 3 hours! Not worth the effort in my opinion!

If you want to see GURLSROK's Gallery... or anyone's... Devon has made it wonderfully easy to do so now Simply click on the user's name to the left of their post... and it brings up that option.

What a fantastic timesaver!

LOL! I've got an idea. Save those for next year. Continue to do 10 a month. You'll be all set for Christmas 2006!

I know exactly how you feel. I made 4 shaker cards and gave up. Went to a new design with Solemn Stillness doing embossing. Well, I did 16 with the embossing and then the rest (25) just got the big swirlly tree! No layer on top of them. Only the special people got the embossed ones.

Good luck. Thankfully mine are out and being received but I ran out, so now I need to make more for those people that haven't sent you one in years, but decided to out of the blue. I doing a simple one with Crazy for Christmas.
