My husband and I are now traveling in an RV around the country. We're in the San Diego area through mid-February and am looking for good local stores or Stampin' Up demonstrator for classes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

San Diego, like everywhere else, has seen a lot of great stores close in the last few years. We are lucky to have some quality shops left around town:
Stamping Details in Poway has a class almost every day and some great visiting designers, too. Down the road from there is Cool Scrapbook Stuff and they have nice stuff, some stamps and some classes.
Others:
Scrappin' Attack, Santee
Paper Tales, Point Loma
Stamping Addicts, La Mesa
Ever After Scrapbooks, Vista
If I think of more, I will let post them. If I get a Stampin' Up! event together while you're here, I will call you.

We are so fortunate in San Diego to have quite a few independent stores available. A few long time stores have closed in the past couple years such as Cool Scrapbooking Stuff, Cat's Craft Cupboard, Jazi's, GeGe's, Pink Pineapple and Yellow Bird so if you hear of any of these, don't try to find them, Here are some of my favorites:
Paper Tales
Paper Tales in Point Loma is a dream of a store& really nice people. Their classes run a little high for my budget, but you definitely need to take a tour of the store and bring lots of money - you will find so much you want.
Debbie Design Delights: November 2013
I have not been to this shop since they moved, but she had the most amazing inventory in her old store. If you couldn't find something, no matter how obscure -Debbie had it in stock. Some of her inventory is older, but she has the newest stuff too. Debbie is an absolute joy & gives impromptu technique tutorials if you ask a question. Her store is just down the road from the Stamp Addict, so you can do both in an afternoon.

This store is "close" to my heart as it is the store where I took my first classes & spent my first thousands of dollars when just getting into this hobby a very long time ago. They just celebrated their 22nd anniversary. Bev & Gretchen are wonderful - just so helpful & they taught me so much. They cram an awful lot of stuff in a tiny store. I also like their class prices - $15 each or you can buy a pass that gives you 4 classes for $40. They also have some free classes where you only pay for the supplies you pick out to use.

Hope that helps!

Cool Scrapbook Stuff was closed for a few months while they moved but they reopened and the new space is quite nice. Worth a visit! Really sad about GeeGee's in Carlsbad, they were around for a long time and had every stamp ever (I am prone to exaggerate but you get the picture).

Their landlord wanted a long-term lease and they couldn't commit to one so they are closing. The last I heard, most stuff was 30% off and they were selling their fixtures/racks/etc.
So sad - I really liked this store and shopped there whenever I could.

The Scrappin Attack saga is so sad. They closed for a while to remodel their space to fit into half the store front they've had for years. Somewhere along the way they decided to close instead of reopen in the smaller space. I will miss that store -- great selection! This is the 3rd local store I've said good bye to in 2014. :(

Stamping Details closed around March 1st. The owners wanted to retire and it was quicker to close than to sell, I guess. They, too, reduced their space by 1/2 shortly before closing.
