My thoughts and prayers are with you Beverly! May the flood waters avoid your area and may you be safe.
Heavy sudden rain flooded my stamp room once. Can somewhat relate to that part. (Nothing like you experienced.) Bought a tall plastic scrapbook paper container last week for that very reason. Cardstock and water don't mix well . Clean up in one room wore me out. Can't image a whole house to the studs. Bless your heart. ~Mary
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. I have almost everything off the floor...had to take breaks...have been having health issues the last six weeks. Anyway, you should see my table...piled a mile high. But, it will be easier going from this point because I won't have to do any bending over or sitting on the floor to sort.
The latest from the National Weather Service is that the river will crest late this afternoon instead of tomorrow. They expect it to crest at 12.5 feet which is just below the "major" flood category. It should start going down Thursday morning.
I got in my car and drove down to the "creek." It is one street over from our house. [Not to be confused with the river which splits the town in half.] I saw some of the Toledo TV station's vans...one near the creek and the other was parked at the end of our street. They had the camera out and were interviewing one of the neighbors. That alone made me nervous!
Anyway, it's been raining all day and I sure wish it would stop. They are calling for snow and that would really help. We only had flooding in our garage and half bath in March of this year because the weather turned cold and the water froze before it could get into the main floor of the house. [Unlike August 2007]. Sooo, I am praying for COLD weather.
Sorry to go off-topic on the thread, but I was so anxious this morning!

Bev, this concern is the last thing you need right now. I just checked the online news for your area and it does not look good.
I'll continue to hold you (and your household) up in prayer the next couple of days.
It's snowing! The rain just turned to snow at 4:50 our time!!!! My hubby drove by the "creek" and he said it is just out of its banks. We watched the Toledo news and they showed footage of our creek.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Beverly and hoping they are wrong about the flood! And please don't apologize for bringing this up on this thread. We can talk about anything we want to here!
I take it you live near Toledo?

Beverly praying for you our area just went through the flood situation last year in May. its horrible situation I live in the Nashville TN area. Hope things go ok for you. Will continue to pray.
You are all so terrific! Thank you so much. Again, I apologize about waylaying the thread today, but wanted to tell you that it looks like tomorrow afternoon will be the clincher. We'll know then how it's going to go. Right now the river and the two creeks are holding their own. The creek one street over is just out of its banks but has not crossed the road. Our TV is out so I'm going to wander around SCS for awhile. Thank the Lord for this site. Keeps me occupied. I can't stamp because my table is still piled high. At least everything is off the floor. I've lost my enthusiasm for anything further in there today.
I just found out that I am going to have to move soon, landlord wants to sell the house after Christmas, I will be giving away out more of my stuff. Gosh I hate moving.
Jenny - sorry to hear that you have to move. I did it by choice 2 years ago. It is a lot of work and not fun. Glad I moved though as I love it where I am now. Hopefully you will find a wonderful new home. Keeping you also in my thoughts and prayers!

Jenny,
I am so sorry you have to move as well. I'm really surprised that your landlord is going to try to sell the house after Christmas. I live in the Midwest and we are used to homes going on the market in the Spring. That way, once school lets out, people are more inclined to look for a new place to relocate. Most of the listings seem to coincide with school calendars.
Am including you in my prayers Beverly - Mother Nature has definitely been on a warpath lately and needs to calm down. Please keep us posted.
Jenny, does your landlord want you to move before he even tries to sell your/his home? I've heard that it's better to have a lived in home. Good luck with the process.
Just dropped by to say hello and hope all is well for you Beverly!

Hey, everyone! I want to thank everyone again for their thoughts and prayers during the last two days. I appreciate so much all the posts here and the PM's I've received. I just drove by our creek one street over and it had flooded onto the street next to ours in just one little area. The city put up "sawhorses," but I could see where it had gone down already. So, even though it is out of its banks, I think it is going to start receding more. The sun is shining today and I thank the Lord for every bit of sunshine that we get. It's crazy, but this is the way we live in this town now that the Flood of 2007 hit. I've heard people say that it never used to flood with even heavy downpours. Now, we get just a bit and it floods. I still say it's all the new subdivisions and buildings they are putting up. Again, many thanks to you all. Now, I'll go dig in my table where I piled everything and see if I can find something to give away.

In my city, the flooding stopped AFTER the building started.
No river or creeks in my area. But 25+ years ago there was was a dirt road behind my house that was part of the flood channel. Now, the water goes underground and the dirt road is now asphalt and so busy that there is a traffic signal on the corner.
I think someone needs to talk to your city council and press them to make improvements, including underground drains to funnel water to a safe collection site. And in areas where there is new construction, these improvement costs can and should be passed on to the builder. (Too late for building that's already been approved.)

I love my dog and I can't imagine him surviving if he had to go to another family. He's sort of a weird dog that is very afraid of strangers. Even as a puppy it took him a long time to trust us and understand that we'd never hurt him. I guess he had abandonment issues LOL
Not sure where you live, but in my area there are so many foreclosures that homes aren't selling. Some people have been allowed to stay in their homes just because the banks don't want the houses sitting empty. In your landlord's case, he won't get any rental income if it's vacant. It would be in his best interest to let you stay until you can find another place or until the home closes escrow, whichever comes first. If he lets you stay, you may have a few months to find another home -- one that will accept you and your canine companion!

LOL...oh, our City Fathers have spent MILLIONS since 2007 paying some "research group" to try to figure out what causes the flooding and how to fix it. Meanwhile, the city is buying homes that flood consistently and tearing them down. That sure fixes those homeowners flood problems!
UP for grabs...No pictures, but pretty easy to visualize.
I have some OLD sewing patterns. These are the patterns that have sketches of women and children on the front rather than photographs like they use now.
I thought they would be neat to use as backgrounds for cards. I'm even going to use the instructions inside and the actual pattern itself. Would be great for collage cards too. I'll send a couple patterns to the first person who PM's me with their name and address.
I have 4 Inkadinkado mini acrylic stamps that I would like to pass on the the first persom to PM me their address.. three are birds and one is a butterfly.

One of my friends decoupaged a couple pattern pieces onto a clipboard and adorned with one of the drawings cut from the pattern package. It's so cute! I've also seen tags made from patterns. So many things you can do with them once you stop using them for sewing.
Thanks for the recommendation, Melissa. I love your card!

So how did you attach the pattern pieces to the card stock? I usually use a glue runner and if not that a glue stick. I know a glue stick sure wouldn't work on this.

Because I received three responses within an hour and 15 minutes, I'm going to send to all three of you. HOWEVER...the first responder will receive the oldest and the most patterns. [Yes, KAREN, that is YOU. WooHoo! LOL.] I got out my magnifying glass and it looks like all the patterns are from 1969 thru 1992. Remember, these are USED and TORN and somewhat SOILED, but for me that just adds to their charm. So, the following will be receiving these in their mailbox.
#1 Lazorkay
#2 victorial
#3 lipontee
I won't be going out of the house until Saturday. So, don't start looking yet! LOL, Hope you enjoy them. I would love to see what you do with them in the PAY IT FORWARD PROJECTS thread.
Off subject: I just added 3 cards to my gallery. I realized that I hadn't added anything since last January! I do work full time, but still.... Anyway, off to the shower and then to work.
Have a good day ladies!
