This may be on here already, but I thought I'd to share just in case it wasn't. To convert RGB code to hex code (to change blog/webpages) see this wicked site below. It has a converter that is amazing:

Thank you so much for posting this!! I'm doing a calendar class next week and this made printing the months SO easy! Last year it took me forever to get the right colors and there were some I wasn't happy with. I flew through it this year. Thanks again for all you hard work!!!

OK, I thought I would share with everyone. I LOVE to use the SU colors for my blog colors, so every time I've wanted to change my blog colors, I had to pull up this thread, find the RGB for the color I wanted and/or find each In Color post, find an RGB/Hex converter, convert each color, decide how I wanted my blog, etc. Well, I've tried writing down the hex each time I do it, but sometimes I forget. SO I made this spreadsheet. It is up-to-date with the current In Colors. There are RGB, HSL, and Hex codes for every color SU carries or has carried! YES, THAT MEANS THE RETIRED COLORS ARE INCLUDED! The only codes I don't have are the HSL for the 07/08 In Colors.....
Oh and the names are IN the RGB colors! Enjoy! I hope it helps you ALL!

I've just been guided to this thread for the printer colour match.

Didn't want to just 'nab' and run, so thank you to all the people who have kindly offered their knowledge to the benefit of so many. xx

Question RGB Confusion

I am confused. The RGB codes allow you to print colors to match the SU colors. However, they don't necessarily look "right" on the computer monitor? Also, wouldn't everybody have to calibrate them on their own computer/monitor/printer? Or do these work for EVERYBODY?

The reason I'm asking is that when I look at them on my computer, they don't look like the actual ink colors. I haven't tried printing them out though, so maybe that is the trick?

If anybody knows, please give a holler.

Thanks,
Sandy

The color codes actually match the SU ink colors when you print it out. It may not look right on your computer monitor, though, depending on its calibration. The way colors look on your monitor can be very different from how they print. If you type in the codes for a color, when it prints, it will match.

Default It's about color mixing.

Monitors are impacted by light / brightness / color settings of their own. The RGB codes are more about color mixing. Some of them may look dead-on on the monitor, but not all of them will. "Matching: based upon a paper-to-monitor comparison is not the same as printing and testing a paper-to-print comparison.

They should be CLOSE for everybody, but some of the colors could take some calibration for each individual printer. RGB (red, green, blue) are standard printer ink colors. The critical mass point is how each individual printer *MIXES* the inks during the printing process. On the other hand, hundreds of people have gotten an exact printing using the codes without having to calibrate to their printer at all.

Printing is the magic mix. Give that a try, see what happens.

Thank you, Vintage Redhead, for the explanations! That really helped me understand.

There is a website that you go to which is like an online Stampin' Up color wheel to help you make color combinations. It's pretty cool, except for that the colors she uses do not match SU colors at all on my computer monitor. So it doesn't really help me much when making color combinations. Your explanations help me understand why that happens.

Thanks again,

Sandy

Have you checked the color values chart that Stephanie Williams uploaded? It includes the RGB and CMYK values for the In Colors, too.

Iteachskool shows the In Colors at the bottom of the 2008 SU color inventory chart. Her upload is in reply #34 in this thread:

In addition to that, it wouldn't even let me do a quick reply. What am I doing wrong? I copied and pasted the original below because I couldn't get it to quote in my message.

No worries, Jacqui. Nothing you did has affected the original file for everyone else. It's not possible for a normal member to edit someone else's attachments without special permissions. I was able to open Canben's XLS file and edit it after your post, so the original file is still fine.

I'll take a guess about your error message that your copy of the file was "locked" for editing. When you opened Canben's XLS, did you click the OPEN choice or the SAVE choice? If you did not save it to disk first and then tried to edit it, the program would have been working with a temp file and that might have contributed. Try downloading the original XLS file again, this time SAVE it to disk before trying to edit it, and see whether that helps.

Thank you so much. I was feeling so bad about what happened. I was able to follow your instructions and download it. Now I can ruin my own copy without worrying that I'll ruin it for others.

Default Photoshop Swatch Library - Stampin Up Colors

I have loved and use these links dearly through my scrapbooking for journaling purposes. I have recently gone digital and found this neat little tool on my mac that samples color from anything on the screen. I have put together a swatch library of all stampin up colors, including the "in colors" from the last three years. I was able to save this as a shareable file and for anyone who scrapbooks using photoshop...if you're interested in this jewel, please let me know and I'll share it. The color codes may not match exactly to what is below, but I think they're pretty close. I used my color sampling tool in the current catalog as I found that the swatches on the stampin up website were not quite the right hue. Not a big deal, but wanted to note that I did not use the codes below to make this library.
