Default Reindeer Dust Saying

I need help (that goes without saying) ..... I need the saying that went long with the reindeer dust (oatmeal and glitter in a cello bag) for a Christmas project. I had it on my computer but last year we got hit by a virus and had to completely restore our computer and I lost it. Does anyone have the saying?

Thanks in advance!

Default Magic Reindeer Food

Here ya go - I made these for a Craft Fair, and they sold VERY well.

Sprinkle on the lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home

If you don't mind me asking how much did you sell these for? I made a bunch last year for a craft fair and only sold 1. I had them for $1.50 each, perhaps a little too steep?

I sold them for $1 each. I just used small Cello bags, made a topper, added about 3 Tablespoons of the Reindeer Food, and that was it.
I know Craft Fairs are sketchy. You never know what will sell. I also made little Coloring Card Kits and sold a bunch of them, and took orders for 50 more kits for Valentine's day.
I made a ton of recipe card bundles, and I think I only sold 2 of them. Didn't sell too many Snowman Soups, either.
Hope that helps - Michelle

just FYI - instead of actual glitter I would use the suger crystals instead - you can usually find them at the $1 store...

I did a bunch of these last year and sold them for $1 a bag and ended up selling probably about 50 of them...

My snowman soup did quite well to...

I did fine as far as cards and other things but my holiday themed stuff didn't sell very well - better to go with a more year round theme for coasters, trivets, cards...

If you do a search for Snowman Soup, you will find a variety of ways to present it, as well as different poems.
The Coloring Kits were really easy, I made 5 cards with US White Cardstock, Stamped using the Crayon Kids Stamp set, and Crayon Christmas set, included a mini pack of crayons, and envelopes from the office supply store, put it all in a sandwich bag, tied curling ribbon around the whole packet. I charged $5 for these, and they were a big hit.
My main suggestion is - Market it to the kids. Think about what you would be willing to spend on a cute, clever thing for your kids. In my area, it's really sketchy. I also made a bunch of gift bags with matching tags and tissue paper, and didn't sell any. I was thinking about trying to come up with something that people could use for packaging baked goods to give away, but I haven't come up with anything yet.

Great idea! It always bugged me that the glitter would make the oatmeal inedible (and probably not that great for the critters outdoors, either) and sugar is a wonderful alternative! Have you tried dyeing the sugar with food coloring, or is this something different -- like the multicolored stuff they sell for decorating cakes?

Re: package for baked goods . . . This may be an old idea but is new to me and might work for you. Dollar store containters (4/$1), then on the blue snap-on top, stamp snowflakes with white acrylic add a bit of glitter while wet. Make about a 14-16 inch long/2-3 inch wide strip of christmas print paper, top that paper with coordinating print same length, slightly thinner. Glue together as a band to slide container into. Add a pretty to/from tag with ribbon . . . will try to upload a pix if you need.

A cellophane bag... you get get them in pretty decent sized packages from most craft stores for around $4 a pkg. ( I buy mine from SU b/c of my dmeo discount but I used to buy them from Hobby Lobby )

I found two different ones. I don't know if you have these:

1) 'Sprinkle your magical reindeer dust along your path before you go to bed on Christmas Eve. The glittering sparkle dust will glow in the moon light guiding Father Christmas and his reindeers to you! Merry Christmas'

2) High above the roof tops
it’s Christmas time again
Our children are excited
With their faces all a-grin
The house is ready for the big event
When Santa’s sled will begin its descent
We’ll sprinkle glitter to guide his flight
So he will arrive safe tonight.

I have a couple different variations on Snowman Soup that I've used - one is like the recipe link above, and this one :

Gives me a mint or no mint option.

Artful Stamper sells the poem stamp for Snowman Soup # 968L and a cute snowman that I have used with it is # 307F. (I also like the SU snowman border that was with the teapot border - now discontinued...) I like the poem stamp because it sure cuts down on computer ink and you can do more with it (emboss, whatever). Hope that helps....

I have a sample I got from regionals.

On Christmas ever before you sleep,
Step outside and take a peek.
Can You see them? Are they neer?
You don't think so? Never fear!
While still outsidde so this simple deed:
Sprinkle this packet or special feed.
The glow of stardust, the smell of oats
Will draw to YOUR house those special folks!
They cna't miss you now, there's nothing to fear,
For this special mix is GUARANTEED
To draw SANTA and his EIGHT REINDEER!

Sometimes you can find packages of cello bags at the dollar store. I used coloured sugar from the bulk food store instead of glitter to make it safer. I also called it Magic Reindeer Dust instead of food to prevent it from being considered edible.
My sister has made these for her son's class at Christmas.

Default Here are a few more poems.

Here are a few more poems that I have found. I hope one is to your liking.

Betty_s_k

Reindeer Magic Food #1
Be sure to take this magic food
and sprinkle on the lawn,
on Christmas, Santa's reindeer
travel miles before the dawn.
The smell of oats and glitter path
will guide them on their way
and you'll wake up to Santa's gifts
next morn on Christmas Day!

**Magic Food Recipe:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup red or green sugar crystals (for cake decorating)

Reindeer Magic Food #2
Make a wish and close your eyes tight,
Then sprinkle on your lawn at night.
As Santa's reindeer fly & roam
This food will guide them to your home.
For your gift to the reindeer and Rudolph too
Your wish may be real,
your dreams may come true.

***[Magic Food: Oatmeal, bird seed, rice crispies, plus a little bit of glitter. ]***

reindeer food #3
(This is a fun activity as well as a poem. Make some reindeer food with oatmeal and colored sugar and then go outside with your child on Christmas Eve and help to spread it on the ground for the reindeer).

My oh my! We do declare
Here is special reindeer food
To sprinkle through the air!
The oatmeal is for energy.
The sparkles are for flight.
So sprinkle the reindeer food
On Christmas Eve night!
All of Santa's reindeer will
Love this healthy snack
And next year Santa and his
Reindeers surely will be back!!!!

Bag Topper for Reindeer Cookie
This would be good for a bag topper not like the magic reindeer food....but maybe for a special cookie for the reindeer to be left with Santa's snack.

My child feeds the reindeer
Late on Christmas Eve
Some very special reindeer food
Because she does believe
That Santa's not the only one
Who needs a midnight snack.
She wants to fill their tummies
So next year they'll bring him back!
~Carrie Jessee Loftus

Reindeer Magic Food
Sprinkle this on your lawn at night
The moon will make it sparkle bright
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam
This will guide them to your home.
author unknown

Reindeer Magic Food
On Christmas Eve spread Magic Reindeer Food on your lawn,
To bring Santa to your house before dawn...
The smell of the oats and glitter sparkling bright
Will guide Rudolph through the night.
unknown source

Reindeer Magic Food
On Christmas Eve before you sleep,
Step outside and take a peek.
Can you see them? Are they near?
You don't think so? Never fear!
While still outside do this simple deed:
Sprinkle this packet of special feed.
The glow of the stardust, the smell of oats
Will draw to YOUR house those special folks!
They can't miss you now, there's nothing to fear,
For this special mix is guaranteed
To draw Santa and his famous reindeer.
unknown source

Reindeer Magic Food
On Christmas eve, sprinkle glitter all over your lawn.
The glitter will shine in the moonlight and lead Santa to your house before dawn.
The smell of the oats will guide the reindeer directly to your rooftop.
The Christmas hope in the magic reindeer food guarantees dear Santa will stop.

Here's another similar poem my sister uses. She makes up bags of it and her husband and kids deliver them to everyone in their neighborhood.

Magic Reindeer Food
Inside this package is a special treat!
It contains magical reindeer food
and here is what you do.
Sprinkle this magical reindeer food
carefully on the ground.
And tonight if you are lucky,
Santa's reindeer will come around.
But here's a secret I have to tell,
one you must try to keep.
That Santa's reindeer only come
when you are fast asleep.
So quickly put your jammies on
and get a story read,
Then sprinkle this magic treat outside
and hurry off to bed!
