Red rubber stamp---now what do I do.....
I bought the cutest little stamp the other day from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps at a store but realized when I got it home that I have no idea how to use it. It is just red rubber so how do I use it to stamp? Hope that makes sense to all you wise stampers but I really like it and have not one clue how to make it work.

The best thing to do is get some EZ Mount. I get mine from Scrapbook.com, here. Trace your stamp on it, cut and adhere it to your bare rubber stamp (it has a adhesive side and a static cling side). Then you can use it with an acrylic block.
I have used Aleene's Tack it Over and Over when I didn't have any EZ Mount and I couldn't wait to use my stamp. You simply brush a thin coat of the Tack It on the back of your stamp (I use a foam brush) and let it dry. This isn't the best (at least for me) because when you lift the stamp off your acrylic block there is some of the Tack It left behind (then I have to wash my block, it comes off but it's a pain) and sometimes it's harder to get a clear image. The EZ Mount is foam and makes it easier to stamp a nice clean image.
I hope this helps. I'm going to sub to see if someone chimes in and has better ideas (or even a better place to buy EZ Mount).

I just use the naked rubber, ATIO&O and then use a magazine or a mousepad as my surface. Works well and sooooo easy.

I've just used a glue stick to stick the stamp on an acrylic block..then stamp on a mouse pad. Wash when done with a little soap and it cleans right up.

Great tip, use a mouse pad as your work surface. Thanks.

The problem you had with the ATIO&O may be that you didn't wait long enough for the glue to dry completely. I have stamps that I've used this glue with for the last few years and haven't had a problem with it leaving a residue or coming off on the block. Also, once the glue is dry, you need to pat the stamp on your arm or your pants (something) to get rid of a little bit of the tackiness. If its too sticky, it may leave a little bit of residue.

I don't own many "bare rubber" stamps but there are three items that help:
2-sided tape (quick, easy and inexpensive)
a rubber stamping mat (I have the one seen in this link: Darice RubberStamping Surface Mat : empty : Shop | Joann.com)
a Fiskars stamp press - so I don't need an assortment of acrylic blocks. here's a video so you can see what it looks like and how to use it (I have the smaller one): Fiskars Stamp Press - YouTube
HTH and ...
Happy Crafting!

I always mount my rubber to EZ Mount. I tried TIOAO but I have cats and the stuff gets furry and gross! For emergencies when I'm out of EZ Mount I will use my re-positionable tape to glue it to a block temporarily.

Thanks for all the great advice. Since I can't find the EZ mount locally--I have looked for it in the past--I think I will try the foam tape and the Darice Rubber Stamping Surface Mat. The mat is on sale at Joann's this week---now just have to hope they actually have them in the store near me. Thanks again everyone--and I'll report back once I give it a try. Have a great day!!!

 I think people use double sided tape and a foam pad. I haven't heard of foam tape being used before because you wouldn't get a consistent pressure just taping some areas.
I just use repositionable glue on the back of mine and store them on cardstock.

Just My Two Cents
I have a ton of "rubber only" stamps (from different companies) and all I use is double sided poster tape on an acrylic block. Then stamp on top of a foam mat.
This method keeps your blocks and rubber stamps clean of any residue and your blocks don't pick up dust, fuzz, threads, cat hair, etc.

Just wanted to make sure you weren't buying something you didn't need because there are plenty of "needs" with this hobby!

Well, even if she did get the foam tape, she could have used it for dimensionals. No mistakes in paper crafting.... ;)

I'm sorry I didn't catch this thread earlier. I was in Chicago at the Summer CHA show last week and I'm just barely catching up with everything.
I hope that you were able get whatever you decided on for the stamp! Though it seems you bought the stamp from somewhere else, I do also sell EZ Mount.
PS. Are you local to Washington?

Yes, I bought the stamp at Impress Rubber Stamps: rubber stamps and card making ideas
We used it for a Copics class and I totally and completely fell in love with it.
I do need to check out your website again. Loved others too but I just don't have the money for stamps right now. But my birthday is coming up (as my grandma says all the time when you need to buy yourself a pick me up).
