I need to buy tape - and I just wanted to get opinions on what people thought of both/either of these products. I need to order lots for some crafting projects coming up. I was just looking for opinions from the gang on which product you like better and why. And if you knew where the best deals for either were. Thanks.
I vote for Scor-Tape, too! You can tear it easily, the liner comes off easy and doesn't stick to everything and its just easier to use. I have never done a price comparision between the two because I just prefer the Scor-Tape. HTH!
I have red line tape, but am trying to use it all up (got a roll of about 25 yards) so I can get Scor-Tape. The red line requires cutting with scissors, but I believe Scor-Tape can be torn by hand.
My red line tape is great at sticking, but having to cut rather than tear is annoying, and then the red liner part that peels off to reveal the sticky stuff has horrific static cling.
Boy, if the Scor-Tape works great, then not having to deal with the static cling of the red line tape will be sooooo worth it. I hate the static cling. I've been trying to use up my red line tape, too so I could replace it with the Scor-Tape. I've heard great things about the Scor-Tape but hadn't gotten any yet.
I've been wondering how the 2 compare for a while now.
I love my red line tape. Even with the PIA red liner sticking to everything, mostly me lol and the fact that you have to cut it. I'm kind of nervous about score tape. I just have so much faith in the red line, I know whatever I stick down with it that stuff is not moving. Especially with making boxes and such and I make a lot of boxes.
I think that in my head because you can rip the score tape by hand it doesn't seem as strong to me. But having never used score tape how would I know?
So those of you who do know, is it as strong of a bond as the red line tape?
I have the same question, does Scor Tape really stick as well or is as permanent? I'm getting down towards the end of a large roll of red line tape and thinking of trying Scor Tape.
I don't mind having to cut the red line with scissors so much, it's the liner static that's the biggest nuisance. Pieces of the stuff turn up days later at the other end of the house!
I also have both kinds of tape, and I use them interchangably. If I'm using a lot of layers, I prefer the red tape becauses I *think* it's stronger, but I'm not sure that it really is. Scor-Tape is nice because it can be torn by hand and its backing doesn't cling to everything in the room. I think either tape is stronger than 3M double-stick tape, which I also use with paper but seldom with cardstock. ... I have bought my Score Tape from Ellen Hutson, but try Google and you'll find several other vendors.
Thanks for all the votes. I haven't had red line for a while (just cause I used mine up) and got some scor tape when I was given the scor pal. I haven't had problems with it sticking but it doesn't seem as sticky as red line. But like I said, its been a while since I used that actual product. I bought some other tape from someone on this site (before bulk selling was stopped) and it was in big rolls, it was white and cheap and I loved it. But I can't remember who I bought it from or what it was called. It could have been scor tape for all I know.
I forgot about the static of the red line though - thats a good reminder. I remember now getting so frustrated by that stuff (and the cat walking around with red strips all over her too).
I think I'll order the scor tape through scor pal - its so much cheaper than the red line stuff.
When I'm using red line tape, I get a piece of scratch paper and "adhesive runner" from one end to the other. I stick the peel-offs on the scratch paperworks great. I would like to try the Scor tape. I'm thinking that maybe I can find it at the same store where I bought my ScorPal.
Well, It depends on the project for me.....( I have a small collection of bonding agents to use with different materials.)
both come in different sizes or widths so that's the same
it's red line tape for something that needs heavy duty holding power! Like book binding or something that gets a lot of movement so it needs the strength.
and if you use a coupon at Micheal's or where ever then it's a bit more economical
other wise, I agree with the other gals! It's the score-tape for everything else medium duty..... It might be a bit of overkill to use it for everyday wear on on cards..... but I do when I can't find my ATG or my regular stuff.
Pros and cons'
easy on and off/ don't need scissors.
smaller widths are cheaper
Has anyone tried the miracle tape from Viva Las VegaStamps? Seems like I read somewhere that it is as good as Score Tape but a lot cheaper.
I haven't used Scor-tape, but I've used both red-liner and the Miracle tape. As others have said about Score-tape, the fact that you can tear the Miracle tape makes me feel it's not as strong, but I certainly haven't had anything come apart that I've stuck with it. I did find the roll came apart a bit, because I just got the 1/4" wide one, but I just use one part of the roll at a time.
Would like to try the scor tape. Prefer not to order online, as my order was only $12 and the S/H was going to be another $6. Do any craft stores carry it?
I recently discovered that Sookwang makes the Scor-tape, and if you do a search online, you'll find Sookwang tape a little cheaper than Scor-tape, but it's exactly the same thing! Works perfectly for everything!

I have used the red liner tape, ScorTape and Miracle Tape. I like Miracle Tape the most. I get mine from Viva Las Vegas (www.stampo.com). It come in various sizes from 1/8" to 3/4" - the may be more but these are the width I have seen. It also comes in sheets - don't know the sizes. The rolls are 55 yds and depending on the width, are priced accordingly.
I know many people rave about the ScorTape but Miracle Tape is my preference. Finally used up the roll of ScorTape I bought and will not be replacing it. Have used it on boxes, 3-D items, etc. and haven't had any problems with anything coming undone. Used the ScorTape during a card class and my flower keeps coming apart.
Good luck finding a 'sticky' tape that works for you.
