Hi I received a wonderful handmade card from someone and they included a poem about how they handmade this card just for me...but didn't sign it so it could be re-used.
I would love to send my cards out like this and this seemed like a better solution than a sticky...
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Sorry if I am rambling!
I've always just used a sticky note on the inside when I've done this. I did stop doing it though because it was mostly for my grandmother and just saves them. So now I write in them so at least she has the message too!

my mom makes cards to , so when I give her a card I makes shes able to recycle as well I give the cards I clean out of my bin at the end of the from challenges and what not, she thinks thats great since she sends out b day ann. xmas cards to EVERYONE she knows
I never sign or write in my cards. I print a greeting on nice paper and leave the insert in the card and sign that. That way the card is a double gift. I know that others have given my cards away which is the purpose. Love the regift idea.

Sometimes I feel "funny" sending out a card to another stamper when it's been sent to me; I belong to a woman's organization which needs cards once in a while so I give the cards to them. BUT I have no problem sending these cards to relatives or anyone who doesn't stamp. Have I muddied the issue?
Baby Nurse, thanks for the poem. I'm sure many will find it useful in their stamping hobby. Before too many people copy it, however, the last line should be "and sent it on its way." (There is no apostrophe in the possessive form. If you can substitute the words "it is", then you can use "it's". Again, thanks for sharing the poem.
If a hand-made card were given to me, I wouldn't have any thoughts of using it to give to someone else. I might use the idea making changes, but would make a different card myself. If I'm giving the card, I want to be the one to create it.
I have one that I use if I am sending a card I got in a swap or RAK that wasn't signed, or that I have re-mounted ( I will keep them about a year, then bless someone wlse with them)
Something along the kines of
" I didn't make this , loved it and will now share it with you"
OK, it is about 7 lines longer than that, but I can't put my hands on it now....never used the one that says why I don't sign, love the idea though!
I get tons of handmade cards from my sisters and friends...all of them know that I will recycle their cards by removing the card front and remounting it to send to the soldiers...I hate to throw any of these away and lets face it..how often do we really go back and look through all the lovely cards we receive...I can always take pictures and save them that way.

I do this all the time with close friends and my sisters-in-law. I also include a note in any sets of thank you notes I make that gives the person thank you not amnisty from sending me one. I always feel a little like it is a waste when they send me one of the notes I made. Kind, but a waste
I have been contemplating re using the hand made cards that I receive which are over a year old. I've been thinking I would add something to it and remount and send. I have so many and just hate the thought that they are sitting in a box when someone else could also enjoy them. As Amber suggests, they would be wonderful to send to the troops too!
I guess I must be the odd one. I have every card that has been sent to me. Yes, I do get them out often and look at them. I love every one. I always write my greeting on the inside of the card, as well as put my signature on the back. If they want to use the front tfor another card, they can always cut it off and use it. I like to show the cards I've gotten to other people. Maybe when I'm gone, some of my family will send them on, but for me, I hope to keep them till I'm gone.

Most of the cards that I send go to people who do not stamp, some keep them and some regift. If they regift, it makes me feel that they really did like the card enough to give it to someone else, kind of a compliment. Now, for me, if I receive a card from someone, I don't send it to anyone else. I guess, because I have so many that I make myself. Janet, I keep the cards people send me too.

I try to recycle as much as possible. To make my own cards recyclable, I first write on the back "Please recycle this card". To make it easier to do, I use a 2-Way glue pen to make a small memo notebook piece of paper a temporary note inside the card. It's not a true sticky note, but more trendy than that since it's a notebook page instead. Or, I might cut a fly sheet for my greeting/message and attach it to the inside with a decorative paper clip!

One of my friends received this note with a card she bought at a craft fair and that was the first I saw it.
She will send cute cards with payments for club dues and similar things that are not personal messages and put a note in to re-use the card.
HMMM - I also have received thank you's on cards that I had given to the person - I thought it a little strange

Since I first began making my own cards several years ago I always have a nice piece of stationery, cut to size, added to the inside of the card - this is what I write my greeting on so the recipient can re-use if so desired. It is lightly attached (so it won't get lost) and easily removable.
I recently went through my card "stash" and donated 5 cards to each lady in our church's Secret Sister program - complete with envelopes - for their use with their Secret Sister. I did this so *I* could send MY Secret Sister my own homemade cards without revealing who I was! I also sell and donate cards from my stash to friends/family who send them to service members and to our church benevolence committee who uses them for birthdays, anniversaries, get well, etc.
I like hearing what others do with the "insides" of their cards!

Just an idea- if you really want the card to get recycled, send the receiver an extra envelope. Most people other than cardmakers don't have A2 envies sitting around.
My friends and I cut the fronts off of each other's cards and send them again. LOL! I got one of my own cards in the mail awhile ago. We still laugh about that! Waste not-want not, right?

What I have been doing so that my cards can be "re-gifted" is to punch slot tabs using SU's "slit punch" for an "insert". If it's a top fold card, I punch on each side; for a side fold card, punch top and bottom. It takes a bit of practice to punch just enough so that the insert fits. All the gals in my stamp clubs love this idea, too! Then all the recipient has to do to re-send it to remove that insert and cut another one the same size, and pop it in, ready to use. It's quick and easy--and no glue mess!

I have used the post-it note idea for years. At first my card making friends thought I was crazy but it caught on quick. I love the little poem inside! What a fun idea. The girls (stamping friends) will love it.

Wow, so many great ideas! I love the poem (with grammatical correction!) and the various ways of inserting a note! From now on all gifts of cards I give will come with a "thank you note amnesty" card (I love that if they really want to send me a thank you note they can send the amnesty card back to me instead of a thank you card)!
I just had a birthday and as soon as I opened and my cousin (& SU rep)'s card and gift she said "say Thank You!" As soon as I said thank you she said - good now you don't have to send me a thank you card (everyone else got one)!
I thought I was weird because I placed a note inside the birthday cards I make for friends instead of signing them. I guess I am not so weird. Or is it that all of us are weird? LOL!!!
I put sticky notes in all the note cards I send out with the school cookbooks people buy from me. I think it is a nice little perk. I don't include envelopes because most of the people who I send them to are crafters. I love this poem and am going to use that from now on. TFS.

Me too - twice - I ended up cutting off the front and giving it to someone else. I haven't used anybody else's cards that they have given me (like RAK's) - but only becuase I make so many of my own. If I did - I would most likely not give it to a fellow stamper - but to a non-stamper. I have received cards with the poem to give to someone else and the one that says that they have gotten it from someone else. I did not think it was strange - I just like to send my cards. I LOVE this idea, and I think I'll start doing it, too.
Most of the cards I make now have bumpy embellishments (I blame that on SCS! ;o), so to help them survive the post office, I usually slip a piece of cardstock the size of a card insert between the front of the card and the envelope. If I stamped a message on the inside of the card, I stamp the same message on the spare.
I have encouraged my friends to use this to recycle the card, but they don't always have double-sided tape. Your great suggestion will solve that problem!
I've often cut the fronts off of cards I've received and remounted them on a white piece of CS cut to 5.5 x 4.25. I'm a mommy to a two year old and have one on the way. I have a thing against store-bought cards, so I do this when I don't have time to make a card myself.
Such a sweet idea; thanks for sharing it! I also like to tuck a letter in a card and that way it's a personal sentiment but not in the card so it's reusable. You can include a couple extra sheets of note paper that you've stamped to match, so that they can pass along the recycling :0)
I'm afraid I don't really understand why you wouldn't sign your own creation. Tf you painted a canvas you would sign it right? Just because you want someone to reuse it doesn't mean you can't sign it. Haven't you ever given someone a gift you didn't make yourself? I say sign the card. Someone you give it to can still re-use it. To me signing a card you didn't make is like taking credit for someone else's work; passing it off as your own. Unless of course you mean signing the INSIDE of the card. Up til now, I am referring to signing the back, like an artist's signature. Are we talking about signing the inside like you would a store-bought card, or signing the back as the artist?
