Can someone give me instructions on doing a pull up card. I want to use it as an invitation where you use a ribbon to pull up the information.
Thanks in advance.

Okay...LMTY in advance...my cards *SUCK* but I try to do *good* techniques to make up for it!!!!
This is a *VERY* easy technique to do...
For the outside of the card, you can get two cards out of one (1) 8.5x11" sheet of c/s. Cut .75" off the c/s lengthwise, the cut it in half crosswise. You will have two pieces measuring 5.5x7.75". Score each piece lengthwise at 1" and 5.25"; fold at the score lines and tack your "shell" together with *HIGH TACK* tape such as Sticky Strip. Set Aside.
For the inside of the card, you can get four "sliders" out of one (1) 8.5x11" sheet of c/s. Cut your c/s into quarters as you normally do. Then return to each quarter and remove 1/8" from both *one* long side and 5/8" from *one* short side. [The reason you do this is to give "clearance" space and allow the slide to work. Otherwise, the fit is just too tight and the slide won't work.] Set Aside.
Punch a hole approximately 1/4" down in the center of your "shell" through *BOTH* the back and the front at the same time. Insert an approximately 12" length of grosgrain ribbon. Place the "slider" on top of the grosgrain "bridge" between the two holes and push it down until it disappears below your hole. Tie a knot in the ribbon and trim to your desired length. To view the card, pull your ribbon upward.

I had a *very* good question privately that I'll answer publicly....
I was trying to follow your directions for the pull up cards on SCS and I am a little confused about the scoring and folding. It says to score at 1" and 5.25" . Are both of these scores lengthwise and where do you score to fold the card together? I am assuming I am needing to make a pocket out of this card to put the other card inside. I am sorry for my confusion but I have never seen one of these IRL but I think it is a cute idea. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Okay...you've got this pretty *long* piece of c/s in front of you, right? Well...think of it this way: you've got to shorten it up.
If you scored it along the *long* edges at 1" and 5.25, you'd end up with one long, skinny piece of c/s that your smaller card won't fit into.
Below is a visual of the reverse, which shows the 1" score...does that help? That 1" score helps to "tack down" the other score. It basically "holds together" the entire card. I hope that showing the reverse is helping to "pull together" the entire concept of why the card is scored at those two intervals...1" means that you have a "tack-down" strip. 5.25" means that you have your standard 4.25" width (5.25" minus your 1" tack-down strip = 4.25").
Hope this additional info helps... ~ K

Here's the template I have and the amazing sample my talented demo made at the workshop I posted. Inside is a packet of hot chocolate mix.
Havent made one yet but it doesn't look too tough.

Thanks Kaylyn. I was the confused dingbat. I was scoring the card the wrong way. Gina thank you also for posting the additional picture. For some reason I could not get the template to open up. THis just is not going good for me all around. It is a wonder I can even open up an ink pad without assistance! I love the idea of putting in a hot cocoa packet.

Anniesmom:
You are *NOT* a dingbat! I knew who you were...I just didn't have permission to post your name, but I really thought it was an *excellent* question for an issue that I had failed to address!
When I first sat down to make one of these, I scored 12 pieces of c/s at the wrong measurements because I didn't make a prototype first. After that I learned - make the prototype, write the measurements *ON* the prototype, then proceed with the rest. *KEEP* the prototype, too...just for use in the future, so I don't have to make another one!
I'll tell you: trying to make one of these without having one "at your fingertips" to literally pull apart to see how it works can be difficult. If you had someone there with you to walk you through the steps, it would seem *so* much easier, too! But when you're trying to figure all of this out from written directions, it can be *way* difficult! (And truth be told: I always just *DETESTED* those story problems they gave us in math in elementary school!! Guess what a description like this is? You got it!)
I also *LOVE* Gina's idea of the hot cocoa packet and a Hershey bar. *WAY* cool!!!! Just remember: You're always scoring and folding the cardstock to go around whatever you choose to put inside it...it's as simple as that.
Hang in there - once you get it, you'll be glad you stayed with it! ~ Kaylyn

Soup packets, small popcorn packets and koolaid packets can go in these as well as tea bags.
I use the soup packets and tea bags for get well cards.
Popcorn and koolaide are for general friendship, or birthday cards.
Keep thinking, lots of things can go into these.
small box of cough drops, tissues................

Okay. I think I must not understand the final dimension or something. Are you suppose to end up with a normal 5.5" x 4.25" project? I took my 5.5" x 7.75" cardstock "half" sheet and scored it at 1" and 5.25". This gave me three sections (all 5.5" tall)--one 1" tack down strip, one 4.25" middle (which I assume is the front), and 2.5" left. This is where I get confused. When you fold at the score lines, what are you suppose to tack the 1" section down to? It can't reach the 2.5" section because there's a .75" gap (the initial piece you cut off). If you arch the middle section out so the two ends meet, it won't fit in an envelope.
One more question, what should the dimension of the "quarter" sheet insert be? 3 5/8" x 5 3/8"? The "both *one*" part confused me.
Sorry for being dense. This seems like a fun card, and I want to learn how to do it.
Thanks.
Katie

If you have trouble opening pdf files, try right clicking on the file and then click "save target as" and you will have no problem! It happens when you have an older version of Adobe, but this makes it work every time! HTH
