What kind of printer is best to use for cardstock?
I just bought a printer and it seems like the printer won't pick up the cardstock for some reason. Plan on taking it back but what kind is best? Does anyone know? And the price would be nice if you know?

I don't have any specific suggestions, just a general one. Some printers come with a way to adjust for thicker paper. You might want to ask and/or check the specs to see if the ones you are looking at have that. The other would be to take some cardstock along to the store in case they have a demo option. That way you would know whether the printer would pick it up.
I have a basic HP that isn't made anymore. It has always worked fine with cardstock. I highly recommend HP printers because they print really well too.
If you want to print on anything thicker than Whisper White, you need the type of printer that feeds the paper from the back rather than a front-loader. If the paper needs to curl around a roller inside the printer, the thicker stuff WILL get stuck.

I have an HP Photosmart 8000 series and it does great with cardstock. It is front-loading, but I just make sure to set my printer settings to cardstock. Works wonderfully!
I have a Canon iP90 (portable printer). Works great with all the Stampin Up Cardstock. I don't even change the settings to cardstock...but do only load 1-5 sheets at a time. Ink is fairly cheap too. (black $10, color $15)
Thank you for all your help I have a mac computer as well. I purchased the epson nx400 but does not let me change setting to cardstock. Maybe that is my problem

I have an ANCIENT printer...front loading, HP DeskJet. Works on ALL kinds of materials. I can feed PaperTreyInk CS through it as well. Never had CS get stuck in my printer. Sometimes if it doesn't pick up right away, I just nudge the CS a little when it's trying to pick up, and then it'll catch. I'm someone who likes all the new gadgets, but for some reason......this printer has been my baby for about 8 years! I won't ditch it until it stops working for me! LOVE IT!
I just bought an HP LaserJet P1505n and it takes PTI cardstock like a dream. It has 2 trays in the front, the top is the manual tray and that is where I put my cardstock. Since I buy all of Lauren Meader's templates I needed a reliable printer. And having a toner cartridge is more economical than the inkjet refills.
Here's something else to think about . . . whether or not the printer ink smears with Copics or your preferred coloring method. See ilikemarkers's reply #11 in this thread: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
I have a color photo printer, canon prixma, and I can run card stock through that just fine. I do hybrid scrapbooking so this helps a lot. My laser b&w 5-1, front loader brother, is off and on. I can do one at a time if I feed it but through the tray, no. I had an HP and I feed it through the back and it was fine. Love the laser printers though... the ink last forever. You either pay for the machine up front or through the cartridges
I just recently got a Canon Pixma MP620 and LOVE it. It was only $100 and we got free shipping with it. I love that it has wireless capabilities as I use a wireless laptop and can print from anywhere in the house. As with any inkjet, it sucks the ink right up, but for the price and quality of prints, I've been very happy. By the way, I went with a Canon after a recommendation from Nichole. She uses a Canon because of the rear loading tray (doesn't need to be fed by hand).
I've had HPs in the past, but even when I adjust for thicker paper they've eventually stopped printing on cardstock without giving me a lot of grief. Even regular paper started jamming. I'm glad some of you haven't had any problems with your HPs, but as for me, I probably won't ever get one again.

I wanted to come back and say that after checking my Print settings, I DON'T have a "cardstock" setting, but what I use is the "Greeting Card - other" setting. Hope that helps!
We have a canon mp530 that is a printer/scanner/fax. I despise it. I cannot get it to print straight on the page (and it isn't just a little crooked-at least 1/4 inch!). Also, when my mom and I talk on the phone, it thinks our laugh is the same tone as a fax, so it starts sending out the fax tones. It is possessed, but I get a new printer with my new scrapbook room, so I will be checking out these suggestions!
