Re tensioning a Cuttlebug Machine
I recently used a Cheery Lynn Doily Die using the metal adaptor plate in my Cuttlebug machine and now sadly the tension seems to have loosened quite dramatically and to use my other dies successfully I really need to pack with lots and lots of cardboard sheets. Please help - does anyone know how and if you can re tension the machine?
|
Sorry, no help by me either. Just popping in the event someone posts good advice. It seems to be a common issue sadly.
|
I don't think you can readjust the tension on any manual die cut machine when the tension becomes too loose. Sorry!
|
I'd do a Google search and see if there are any crafters out there who have attempted this or contact the manufacturer. Good luck.

Erica Q's Creations: Cuttlebug Meltdown
I found this link on another forum. I haven't looked at it. I think hers broke somehow. If that isn't your problem, I'd call Provocraft. I found this on eHow: Provo Craft's Customer Service Department can be reached at 800-937-7686 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MST) Monday through Friday. |
Exactly the same thing happened to me.

Please keep us posted with any results, links, etc.

A friend of mine blew her cuttlebug apart using one of those plates....she went out a bought a new one...but my advice was to contact provo craft...
|
Thanks everyone - will try contacting Provocraft. Will keep you posted on the outcome

If yours is just loose and not actually broken, it might make sense to buy another one and reserve the one you have for use with that adapter plate. It's my understanding that the complexity of those Cheery Lynn dies require a certain amount of even tension to get all the tiny pieces cut.

Before you panic, get a No More Shims embossing mat.
My original Cuttlebug has more scoosh- room between the rollers than my 2nd Cuttlebug (both are Version 1). I found that the no more shims embossing mat to be the perfect solution to my issue of needing a wide variety of shims. I also discovered that the No More Shims did not work in my tighter Bug - couldn't even crank it through. Good luck with this! |

Thanks RachelRose have looked at the "cuttlebug meltdown link", will give it a try and see what comes of that.
Thanks also Boss, my husband is over in the states at the moment and has picked up some heavy embossing mats, unfortunately he couldn't get no more shims, so hopefully I might have the success that you had. Provocraft told me that they don't offer a repair service, but if my machine was less than 12 months old that they would replace it, unfortunately it's not :( Will keep you posted on what happens next. |
