I'm a novice at stamping and embossing. I hope these questions are easy to answer. Do you emboss first, then cut or vice versa?
Second, if I buy a digi-stamp do I just print it out and color? As many times as i want? Does anyone know which marker inks are best to use with HP inkjets? I've never tried a digi-stamp, but thought it might be an interesting experiment and certainly take up less space than mounted stamps.

I cut and then emboss because if at all posssible, because you could smoosh down the embossing when cutting it, if that makes sense.....well now that I read your question again, are you talking about embossing folders or powder embossing? I stamp first then cut, then emboss. If I am embossing an image with powder, I would emboss then cut. Does that make sense???
As far as digi stamps, I use copics with the stamps. I don't use many digital stamps but I have a couple. I just make sure to use good paper when I print and then I make sure the image is completely dry before I begin coloring.
The best thing about digi stamps for me is that you can print any size you want and as many times as you want. But you are not allowed to redistribute the files. In other words, if you buy a digi stamp, you cannot pass that file on to friends.
I use Copic markers with my digi stamps. However, I find that no matter how long I let the ink dry after printing it still smears with my copics. So, to avoid that, I print and immediately pour clear embossing powder over the image. Tap off excess and heat. The clear embossing powder keeps the ink from running. I've also tried using black embossing powder but the black smears with the markers so clear works best. I also use Gina K Luxury paper because it's thick and works well with Copics.
Anyway, once I've heat embossed the image then I color. Then I cut it out.

I can say that with my HP inkjet, I've tried embossing and couldn't get enough embossing powder to stick to make it worthwhile even trying. Could have been that I was using a more absorbent paper. I've found that spraying with a fixative and leaving overnight will work ok the next day, but because of the all the bother digitals are a last resort for me. I don't have Copics, which I believe would be much easier.
I love my digi stamps and I never have an issue with the ink smearing when I use my Copics. I have a HP inkjet printer and print on A Muse sugar (white) card stock.
Mob, I download my image and then import it into a Word document, where I work with it (resize, flip etc) and then print it out, color and add to my card. I love the flexibility of digi stamps and the ease of storage can't be beat.
Thanks everyone, but you've raised more questions. If you emboss right out of the printer do you just add the clear powder right onto the paper? What's your favorite clear powder? I bought Zing, recommended by Archivers, but I haven't tried it yet.
Is that printer ink wet enough? What is an example of a fixative that can be used to let it dry overnight? I have Spectrum markers...do you think they'd work like the Copics?
