Need help with stamps

I bought some quality clear stamps yesterday (not sure if I am allowed to mention the brand) but some of them are not stamping clear and deep enough. I try another stamp out of that package and it was fine.

I normally use wood stamps and have never had a problem.

What can I do?

Take a sanding block and lightly sand over the ones that aren't stamping right.

You certainly are allowed to say the brand. People openly talk about brands here all the time. That's how we all learn about different companies and how their products perform!

I would call/contact the company.

I agree that light sanding often helps if it's a slight problem, but if it's more that that, it might be that your stamps are defective and need to be replaced. I have had that happen, with both clear and rubber stamps. A good company will want to make sure you are happy, so that you'll buy again. ;-)!

What kind of ink are you using. There may be some manufacturing residue on the stamps that resists some inks, especially dye inks like SU or Marvy. Try inking the stamp with a pigment ink such as versamark, versacolor, or colorbox pigment ink. Stamp on scrap and clean the stamp with a good stamp cleaner. Then reink with your dye ink and see if that helps.

Taking a piece of low tack tape & going all over the stamp with it will remove any manufacturing residue. Its quite possible to get an odd faulty stamp in a set- I had one a couple of years ago. I bought a set of clear Tim Holtz stamp sets, from e-bay , and one of the word stamps had a couple of words that would not print clearly no matter what I tried. The seller sent me out a new set, with no issues. Stamperdea's advice is good to try, I've also seen people recommend using Staz=on to sort of 'coat' the stamp too.

I think if a stamp is not stamping properly after you've done the obvious (removing manufacturing residue, which I happen to do with an eraser), the next thing is to demand a replacement. If the seller is not cooperative, then I'd resort to more aggressive fixes so as not to have wasted my money, but I'd be wary of buying from that company again.
