Default Chevron vs hexagon

I'm seeing these two shapes used a lot, about how one is in and one is out. What's the difference? I thought they were the same. Thanks you smart stampers.

These are my two favorite shapes to use lately!!! I love love love the new embossing folders from SU!!! The new hexagon folder is my favorite with some Core'dinations cardstock!!

Did somebody say "out"?!?! I hope not, I have embraced both of those patterns big time. Sometimes hexagon goes too quilty /country for my tastes but it's a fun shape to play around with and chevrons rock for borders and backgrounds.

Both are very much still in! They are both all over fashion (just got a funky dress with hexagons) and hone decor! Rock on chevrons and hexagons!!!!
