Money Saver Price suggestion?

I've been asked to make 50 invites for a co-worker. Products cost around $150. What would be a fare amount to charge? Help?!

I can't imagine that 50 invites would be worth more than $150 to someone. Maybe a different design would work better. Is she willing to pay more than $150? That seems high to me.

I agree. $150 seems very high for 50 invites. I would ask your co-worker what her expectations are before starting to make them.

I'm not sure, my sis-in-law made 60 assorted cards for someone and they paid her $200 for them. They must be really cool invites then.

I agree with the others, I would talk to her first and see what her budget is or what price she had in mind. $150 for 50 invites seems kind of high to me.

Generally I'd charge twice my cost. However your cost does seem really high. But if your customer is good with that then hurrah. Just pay yourself enough. With that high of a cost it will be hard for you to make money.

Let us know.

I don't think it matters what the cost of the products is, it matters what you are doing with them. Are you hand coloring each one of them? Multi layers? Lots of cuts? Embossing?

Custom costs more than off-the-shelf. The sky is the limit on pricing! Her budget will tell you how much she wants. Ask her what she would like the finished invite to look like and then figure out how much time each one will take you to make. Then multiply that by your hourly rate.

And then deposit her check!

I'd charge $450. Triple the product cost. I've paid more than that for invitations in the past. It just depends on the work involved though.

That's only $9.00 an invitation. I've worked at a stationary store and in the stationary business for a few years....the market will bear that, believe it or not!

150 is NOT too much, that's only 3 dollars each for a handmade card.

$150 would not be too much for a final cost for finished invites; but it seems the OP is saying her materials cost is $150 so she wants to know how much MORE to charge over that amount for the finished product.

I agree with others that say to check with your buyer first ( or again ) to be sure you two are on the same page. You want to make sure you are getting paid for your time and effort so at the minimum I would double my product cost but $300 seems like a lot to pay for 50 invitations. If your buyer is okay with that; go for it!!
