Default Please help me find this thread about changing over from wood mount to cling mount.

About a month ago, I was on here just going through a bunch of different threads in different sections of the stamping forum, catching up on a lot of reading. I remember glancing over a certain thread that someone started about "did you have regrets switching over from wood mount to cling mount" or something like that (I don't think those were the exact words, but you get the idea)

I've used the search and have gone through the general stamping forum, the organization forum, tools/technique forum....etc. I just cannot find it.

I know many of you have switched your wood mount over to the cling mount and I've been debating with myself of whether that's something I want to tackle. Some may have read this before on some of my posts, but a few years ago I sold ALL of my Stampin Up stuff and now I completely regret it. After a break for a few years, I realized that I miss making Christmas cards. So I have decided to get back into it but I'm only buying Christmas stamps and slowly building up my cardstock/markers/inks. I bought a few sets (wood mount) over the summer at a yard sale, I got a few sets from a friend who was giving stuff away (wood mount) and recently I've placed a few orders and have bought 13 of the cling mount sets. I'm really loving the cling mount (plus the storage)!!! They take up so little space. I bought a DVD tower and have been storing them in that.

But now, I'm deciding whether or not it's worth it to switch my wood mount over to cling mount. I'd love to have all of my sets nicely organized into my DVD tower. I would say I only have about 20 wood sets (including about 4-5 of those big background stamps) Has anyone ever had success in switching those over as well? Is there a block big enough? Or should I just keep those on the wood?

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Because I'm not sure if that thread will answer your question about the background stamps . . .

There are blocks out there that are large enough for the unmounted background stamps, but what I've found that works even better is a Fiskars stamp press. It's the only way I've ever been able to get a decent impression with a background stamp despite all the trick I've tried.

I know there's also a type of block (Rock-A-Block, I think) that's curved, so you're kind of rolling the background stamp across the cardstock. I've heard raves about them, but since I'd already discovered the stamp press, I haven't felt a need to try one.

Thanks for you reply.

I really only have 4 background stamps, so I think I just might keep them on the wood blocks for now.

I actually attempted transferring my first set of wooden stamp sets over to cling and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I have a day off from work today, so I'm going to get a few more done. Luckily, I only have about 15 sets to do. I can't imagine people who've done it that have had hundreds of sets!!!
