Which Photoshop?
I've heard that Adobe photoshop is the best and when I looked online I saw several different versions. Which is the best one for our purposes...i.e..scrap booking and such. I saw a bells and whistles version for about $300 and I probably will not spend that much. Any suggestions?

Please, please post responses, because I'm waiting here for the answers too! I've checked online, but really can't tell exactly what I want, and would love to hear some personal testimony to this product.

I like Photoshop Elements. It has more than enough bells and whisles to do anything I want to do. The full blown version of Photoshop is very expensive and, unless you are a professional artist, you may not use everything.

Well I am sure this won't help you much, but I use Photoshop CS and I love it.
It has all the bells and whistles and it is expensive. I use it for work and everything at home. I really don't even know what other versions are out there. I just got back from Photoshop World in Vegas and learned alot. I think for all your everyday stuff you do not need the full CS program. If you are using it for the basics ie: cropping, minor color corrections then get the cheaper version. but if you plan on doing major color manipulation, filters, special effects, montaging then get the full version.

i have the full blown version and elements--elements is enough for the majority of users. i can't think of anything i would do on any regular basis that couldn't be done with elements. for the money, elements is the way to go.

You can get Photoshop Elements from Viking for $99.91...and no, the special codes don't seem to bring the price down any.
However, here's the code for 20%off $100 - AR3-PR20
Or $15 off $150 - QJ3-PRDOL
And there's the $20 off a $50 order floating around...DZ2-PRD20
And how about a cute little desk clock with a purchase of $25 or more - QJ3-PRQ3648
I found most of these by googling "viking coupon codes".
This can help make the sticker shock of the software just a bit easier!

I have got Photoshop Elements 2.0 just 2 years ago. I tell people that it will do EVERYHTHING you could imagine, so much more than I have time to play! Anyway check out Amazon for rebates and Adobe too. I got my new 2.0 version for $12 after the getting to use both rebates (you could use them in conjuntion with each other! Very cool.

If your worried about cost you can download paint shop pro and get alot of stuff done with it.
I would put it up against Adobe when it comes with the average user and its free.
I have adobe and paint shop pro on my computer I still tend to lean on PSP simply because I know it in and out and can get the effect I want real fast. If I have time I do it on Adobe because I want to learn both programs proficantly.
If you would like to see examples of PSP work PM me your email addy and I will show you some stuff it can do.

I use Photoshop Elements 2 and it does everything I could ask of it. I think it is both easy to use and offers enough tricky stuff that you can grow with it. Since they now have an elements 3, #2 has really come down in price.
Good luck and have fun.

Just got Photoshop elements 3.0 over the weekend and am losing sleep, having fun altering all 1500 pictures already downloaded.
