Papertrey Ink Dies in Cuttlebug?

Does anyone know the "formula" or if it's even possible to use PTI dies with a Cuttlebug?

I've always just used my C and B plate, like with any other thin die.

That's my formula, too, B & C plates. I have used most of my PTI dies in the Cuttlebug with great success.

I will say that I got some "mums" dies from PTI that are pretty intricate. I could not get them to cut cleanly. I even ordered that little thin metal plate, but still no success, so they sit unused to date.

My Cuttlebug is several years old and has had heavy use, and even with new B & C plates I don't think the pressure is as great as it used to be.

But I intend to keep using it as it works for every other die except the Mums.

I have had trouble with the same PTI die with my cuttlebug--I put a couple pieces of blue painter's tape on the back of the die that wouldn't cut along with the metal shim and it works--I usually run it through my bug twice and turn the die some before the second run.

Has anyone had problems with the paper getting stuck inside the dies? This is a holly leaf die, and every time I use it, I have to "dig" the paper out of the die with a stylus...!

I remember reading someone suggest using wax paper--place wax paper over die then your cardstock--never tried it, so not sure if it works--but worth a try.

I've had success with that waxed-paper method, although I've only needed to use it once or twice in my Big Shot. I've also read on other forums of people who do this on a regular basis with good results.

I keep a little piece of blue painter's tape stuck to the top of my die cutter. If any paper gets stuck in a die, I just grab it gently with the tape and pull it out. The tape pulls off the back of the paper easily with no damage.

Popping in here to make a comment about using waxed paper to get the intricate dies to release the die cut.
Regular waxed paper works ok, but a slicker, more reliable alternative is bakery tissue. This is the kind of paper that you use in the serve your self bakery to pick up donuts. It is waxed, but the wax is so lightly applied on the surface that you can't feel it, unlike regular waxed paper. Another way it differs is that it is whisper thin and quite durable.
I've had great success using the bakery tissue. It is the ONLY product I found that allowed me to successfully remove cs from a fleur de lis square nestie. That sealed the deal for me. Went to our local Albertson's grocery and was able to purchase a nice petite box of 6" square bakery tissue for under $5. It's already saved me many tedious minutes of picking bits of paper out of a die. Bakery tissue is my friend! :cool:

That is a great idea! I never thought of painters tape, I've always tried using small pieces of card stock strategically placed...not always successful. I will definitely get a piece of the tape and have it taped to my Bug for easy use. I got a metal shim, thinking it would solve the problem, but like you mentioned it sometimes takes several times through with persnickety dies to get a good cut.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just had regular waxed paper on hand, and didn't have any success with that ! But I DO have painters' tape, so will try that now. (I'm making 50 Christmas cards, and using a metal holly leaf die to cut out 2 leaves for each card.... I know: I should have invested in a holly leaf PUNCH!). May also try the bakery tissue, although we don't have Albertson's in our area.
