Question Online Photo Storage

So, I'm thinking about not storing my photos on the ol' hard drive and storing them online instead. I know a lot of you do this already. Should I go w/Flickr? Photobucket? Something else?

I would truly appreciate any input, any "wish I'd known this before I started" advice you, with experience, have to offer.
;)

ETA: Sorry. Looks like I should've posted this under "photography." Mods, feel free to move.

I have the pictures of all the cards I've made stored on Photobucket cos it's free for a huge amount.
I suppose I should think about putting my real photos on there too!!!

I would get a external hard drive first of all and move them off your computer every so often.

the thing with online is, you never know when they are going to close. so, all the photos I had on an MSN group ( from first online community CKmessageboard) and TwoPeas are mostly POOF gone. (which is why I have a blog)
I do have a flicker account but, I hardly ever even think to turn it on.
I think I even have a Photobucket account too.

So, I would go and get an external if I were you.

I have two backup drives for my computer that I use. I have a third drive for pictures only. I also have some pictures in a cloud account that I have shared with others Apple and Google both give you so many Gig free then charge a small fee beyond that. I always feel you need to back up as you never know if you computer will fail.

I upload my photos to Picasa for editing. Photoshoppe is too confusing for me! Then I upload them to WalMart Photo since I can share them or create projects. I can have them mailed to me or others or I can pick them up at the store.
