Are you ready....my wish list when the new catty came out was close to $1000. Of course, that is why I am a demo. So I can buy all of that before the next catalog comes out

I just added it up again to be sure, and I added wrong! It was supposed to be $218.80. I am attending a stamp camp next week and I was trying to see if I had 30.00 worth of stuff to order because the camp is free if you spend $30. I am not a Demo so I really try not to spend so much on my therapy(I mean Hobby) Looks like I will stick to ordering out of the mini holiday since I might miss out on those things! I haven't even seen the winter mini yet!

I guess I was wrong about it being alot! :o It's hard for me to justify spending so much seeing as I don't work outside the home and it is a hobby! It takes me a long time to decide what to buy! I finally have all the assorted paper colors and 2 of the assorted 12x12 papers! I guess I am frugal(cheap is more like it).

I am not a demo so this might explain my list.
When the new catty came out my wishlist was about $1800. I have my wishlist in an spreadsheet. And that didn't include the ink cartridges I am slowly adding to my collection.
I belong to a Stamper's 10 so that helps spread it out. Plus my demo has lots of other events so I can buy then too.
I am down to about $1300. But I never put the mini catty on my wish list I just order it when it comes out. By the sounds of it I will be buying lots with this new one! I am hoping by the next catty to have it down to about $1000. and less than 50 items.
I guess I should get back to work so I can pay for all this SU stuff.

or worse yet you could have a terrible case of responsibility (GASP!!). Some of the symptons are 1) paying bills before buying stamps; 2) staying within the amount budgeted for hobby purchases, and 3) buying food for your family with the grocery money. There are others but those 3 are usually the easiest to spot. But don't worry, it's curable and we're all here to help. I suggest you start by spending a little time in the SCS gallery - be sure to note the stamp sets and supplies need for the projects that most appeal to you. Next spend some time in the techniques forum - be sure to note the supplies needed for the techniques that sound interesting. At this point, you can start tranfering the items you lists in your notes to a wish list. Then in no time at all, you'll find yourself wanting things that when the catty first came out, you didn't even give a thought to ordering. Please note - for some people, this dreaded condition can be cured with just one round of the treatment described above; for others, the process must be repeated. If you have questions, please consult with any of the experts here on SCS.

Oh, Pam! I need you nearby!

I need to laminate the above quote and stick it to the front of my catalog (and make a smaller copy for my husband's wallet!)
Responsibility. It's a good thing. Self-control is a good thing, too. Being a good steward of what God has blessed us with. That's good. Maybe coming to SCS is a bad thing, making me want more and more. But, then again, maybe it's God's way of teaching me how to have self-control and not call my demo to place an order every time I fall in love w/something I've seen here. Hmmmm~I have to think about this for awhile. :?

I used to be a CM consultant. I went inactive so that I could do Stampin UP. My wishlist was WAY too long. I'm not even going to think about making a wishlist. My hubby would die.
I bought a new laptop about a month ago. I had two rebates that came in each for $50. I had my stampers club last night. I took the $100 in rebate money, and the money I made from the stamp camp and placed a $150 order. I swear I am my best customer. All I did was go through and pick some of the things that I REALLY wanted (thanks to all the wonderful posts on SCS). Somehow it magically came up to around $170. (Well, 200 but I took one set off) I was trying decide what I would have to wait for when the duh lightbulb came on I get the hsotess credit. Yippee!! So I got all of my MUST HAVE sets. I can't wait!!
Too bad that the stinking shipping is taking so long. I have a Christmas Stamp Camp next Saturday and won't get my stuff in time for it.
But at least I got to splurge without hitting the family budget!!

Yeah, with a $100 a month allowance you should definitely become a demo. The minimum is $300 a quarter. You've got it already. And you wouldn't even have to hold workshops if that's what's standing in your way.
Sign up and get the discount.

Wish List
I am going to sign up after the first of the year. I really have to be careful because I get a SSI check every month and can only make so much . But of course the price of my med comes right off the top of my profit. I would have to sell about 2500.00 a month before it would effect me. So hubby and I tallk about it and he told me to wait until after the first of the year. Can't argue with that one. I just wish it was sooner.

gablemom, we said these were wishlists, not necessarily things that we actually purchase! my wish list is over $1000 but I'm a single mother and while I might not mind skipping a few meals so I can have a new stamp set, my son might take exception to that idea. I'm happy for those that can place $400 orders, but that is just generally not an option for me. so there the things that I absolutely must have and can find money for, and then there are those that would be nice but I just can't justify so they sit on my wishlist until they get discontinued.

The total of my wish list is about $500.00 , but that is not counting all the paper , ink pads, reinkers, and other accessories that I want. So it would probably come closer to $1000.00 . Oh and that also does not count the things I may want from the mini catalogs when they come out.

Okay, ya'll are starting to scare me. I would love to have lots of things, but my husband would have a cow if he found out I spent that much on stamping stuff! I really did start out thinking my little 200.00 wish list was too much, maybe I am not thinking big enough!
Haha! I am getting so corrupted here!

This happens to me pretty much monthy (Canadian, as if that makes it any better!!) But....I try really hard to restrain myself...most of the time...;) Right now I'm working on getting all full sized ink pads, with matching 8 1/2 x 11 paper. I'm part of my own stampers group too, so it's helping with that.

I love this site. But my little 170 from last night has doubled after spending way too much time on here. My DH said that I could buy more. I am going to try very hard to find a craft fair so that I can make some money back on some of these Christmas purchases. Or I guess I'll have to host my own.

OK, here's how crazy I am with my wish list -- I put my wish list in a spreadsheet format:
Pg# -- Item# -- Item Name -- Price -- Qty -- Total
The Total column is the Qty times the price. When I get ready to order I check my spending allowance then choose items from my wish list and add the quantity into the spreadsheet. It automatically adds up the total and calculates the shipping, tax and my demo discount. I just keep adding and subtracting quantities until I hit my budget amount!
By the way, the spreadsheet is even separated into sections -- Stamps, Inks, Paper, Accessories. My left brain must have kicked in at some point!

YOu NOT alone - I do too! and mine is partly for organization and partly b/c often my hubby will say - Hey honey - Your birthday is coming - wehre is your wish list?
Or Honey - YOu having a show right - Christmas is coming - Where is your list.
He can then see page, item # etc and be able to see what he is buying me! Yes he actually will leaf through the catty!
He then hands me a SEALED envie to give to my demo. If I duplicate anything - she calls HIM for the change so I still have no idea what he is getting me!
It works well for me!
As for my budget - I'm in a stampers 8 "out of the Box club" and we are a $30 /month group. Plus my "small orders" if a friend invites me to a workshop (usually a stamp pad or two or paper and embellishments)
As for my wish list - I just added it up - Stamp sets only - just under $180 - now as I peruse the gallery will it grow - OH YEAH BABY - it always goes!!
And Pam - coupon savings - one small phrase - We budget for groceries - what ever I save in COUPONS is MINE to spend!!! So being responsible can also be a good thing for a stamper!!! teehee! So if my budget for groceries from hubby is $150 and I only spend $120 b/c of coupons and store specials I have now put $30 in my stamp budget - dh still hasn't figured that one out!!! SSSHHHHH!!!!!
And the Walmart, Target DOllar Store buys - "household expense" is my quicken entry! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! When hubby does a budget drill on spending - only entry for "leasure/Hobbies" are the checks to my demo!!!

Quote: I put my wish list in a spreadsheet format:
Pg# -- Item# -- Item Name -- Price -- Qty -- Total
The Total column is the Qty times the price. When I get ready to order I check my spending allowance then choose items from my wish list and add the quantity into the spreadsheet. It automatically adds up the total and calculates the shipping, tax and my demo discount. I just keep adding and subtracting quantities until I hit my budget amount! |
wow! I have the Item Name as the first column but otherwise, I think we have the exact same spreadsheet! how obsessive are WE?
