Default New to unmounted stamps

OK, I just received my Papertrey stamps. This is my first time using acrylic and unmounted stamps. I thought I remembered someone mentioning stamping the images on the cling? Did I just make this up? What type of ink should I use to stamp on the cling? What is the purpose of doing this? I haven't peeled them off the cling yet - I am enjoying how pretty they look on the sheet (LOL!).

You use those just as they are. People were talking about unmounted red rubber.

Especially when the rubber comes with what's called, EZ cling, or Creative Cling as TAC calls it. Then you want to stamp on the smooth side with Staz on ink (some have used Palette successfully, others not so I use stazon! ;) )before you slap those two pieces together!

Lori, you are going to love your papertrey stamps!! You don't need to do anything to them except ink them up and stamp them. You will love how you can see right through them. Have fun! I can't wait to see what you create!!

Some people stamp the images on the cling so that they have an index sheet to put the stamps back onto. not a necessary thing but it can help you keep track of the stamps...especially the bitty ones. I don't personally do this though since I like to store mine in the CD case!

Thanks for the info, ladies! I can't wait to play with them. I have such a "crooked eye" that I know I am going to love the fact that I can actually see where I am stamping. I ordered the lined block as well - anything to help with the crooked eye, right?;) I also ordered GinaK's doodle stamps, so will get to try the unmounted rubber as well.
