I've just received my catalog and noticed cards made that feature a banner with "winter wonderland" or "merry christmas" stamped on it. The banner is curved a bit with points cut at the end.
My question is this: Is a punch or die used to achieve this effect or is it cut free-hand?
I think the winter wonderland is free hand. The Merry Christmas one looks like something I saw on a card recently. The strip is just a rectangle that you use a square punch to make the notch in the end. The strip is only attached to the card on the layer, not the green base. The end of the strip is curved by running the strip along a pen or something then the strip pops out from the page like a real banner. I will find the other sample for you.
You can see it better on this card - it is a little different because the banner pops out in the middle but I think it is the same idea. Stamping for Sanity: Colour Q Challenge #46
