came across this today, first I got very excited...then after I calmed down I thought to myself, what would be the advatage to having this in stamp pad form?
your thoughts on this ladies?
do I need these? or just want these? :?
I was asking the same thing about 'em... Does anyone have these and how do they look? What would be the advantage of using these in place of VersaMark and PE?
I actually have had occasion to use one of the pearl-ex or "interference" pads recently and liked the results. How I used it was to emboss with clear, then another sample, embossed with hologram highlights. I used it on a burgundy paper and the effect is different than versamark & PE, less subtle than that effect. I think I would say it is a bit more opaque.
I used Lovely as a Tree on Burgandy (the fir tree) and then embossed it. Quite nice and different in appearance than either the versamark with pearlex brushed on and versamark, then heat and stick, then pearlex. I'll have to download the card I made with it.
I "need" these to make my pearl-ex experiences quick and easy with less steps for a permanent result. The instructions at this site state there is no need do do anything except stamp with the inks doing direct to paper... and no fixative, varnish spray no hair spray or future floor wax is needed to keep your images permanent. I want them all, I love how they show examples of what the colour will look like on dark and light papers.

I was browsing JoAnn on line and they offer these in their on line store. I checked the local store but they didn't have them available. I was thinking of getting them myself. Just more stuff I want!!
Happy Stamping

I think you might be talking about Opalite pads. If you are........I am embarassed to say I have them because........because I counldn't  resist. I have not use them, but now I will I am going to try to think of a project to use them and to post for you. I don't know if they will show up that well, but we should test them right? Ha!
I will get to them this weekend. They are really pretty. In the mean time I have put together a sample sheet for color purposes and I am attaching it.
When you look at the colors on the pad they look like their names. In the scan they changed colors just like when you look at EP's in one direction or light.
I have some of the opalite pads as well, these are not them. These are Pearl-ex pads. They do have 4 interference pads that are like the opalite, but there are also three other types, metallics, two tones and essentials.
I have the Mica Magic pads, which I think are similar (although I haven't tried the Pearl Ex). The Mica Magic pads are VERY dry and I'm not that impressed. If you get the Mica Magic pads, buy the reinkers at the same time - you'll need them. I suspect that the PE pads might be the same way due to high percentage of solids in the ink.
If anybody has tried both the MM and the PE, I'd love to hear your opinion!
you know...I am sure you meant well..but that is just not nice....:P
I am trying to save for convention but my budget is being BLOWN to smithereens!!!!
Thanks Jo for the site. Its kind of hard to tell except they are definitely darker than the pads I got. It sounds like it would be faster than stamping with Versamark and then using the brush.
Otherwise I like the Pearl Ex powders to paint with. I forget the lady on here who talked about Pearl Ex and Future FP, but I thank her from the bottom of my heart what an answer to mixing the powders with stuff other than glue. I still like the glue+Pearl Ex too.
So many ways, so little time. Ha! Thanks again Jo.
I have a couple of the interference PE pads and like them. I haven't found them to be a huge WOW though. It's just that they are definitely more convenient and less messy than using the powder form. I still vote for the powders over the pads though, because in powder form there are just so many more ways to use them...
I guess I would not put them in the "MUST HAVE" column...
I don't have any of the PE powders, but I have played with them at one of my demo meetings. I saw the PE pads a few months ago at my Hobby Lobby and grabbed a gold or copper one because I thought they would be great! (And half off... couldn't resist.) Well, I'm not thrilled. It did seem a little dry to me, and I had problems getting a nice crisp dark image with it. Maybe I just need to play with it more, but I wasn't bowled over by it.
Just my experience...
