I just HAPPENED to get a big surprise last night...I was the ecstatic recipient of one sheet each of the five new base colors, AND the five new In Colors!!!!
Does anyone have any interest in seeing pictures comparing the colors to any current, retiring, or whatever papers? I'd be glad to take some and post them!

Diane - what do you think about them? Me... I'm actually loving the new colors. As I said on my blog post last night... at first I was HUH... you have to be kidding me... but when I started to see how little I used the colors that were going - sometimes never... and how fabulous the new colors were.... I was so happy. Now that I get to play with them. I'm over my initial shock and am really excited.
hugs

Well, to tell you the truth, the day after the announcement, I pulled the discontinuing colors and rearranged my drawers to accomodate the new arrangement. Then I looked through the retiring colors to see if there were any I thought I couldn't live without. I kept a few. I also had kept all the old In Colors. So, the colors I kept and the retired In Colors that are still retired I made into two color groups, like the 4 new color groups. We'll see which ones of those I continue to use!
When I had the color groups arranged in my drawers I looked at them and said, "I want the new colors NOW! I was psyched! I LOVE the new arrangement! Of course, my budget won't, but I've had a couple of months to get used to that idea!
GOSH, they're beautiful!!!
BTW, when I packaged up some of my retiring colors...Some of the packages of paper were UNOPENED! Shows you how much I really needed those, Huh!! LOL!!

I'm with you on all counts. I did do a comparison on my blog of the new colors a little while ago - but haven't done the in colors yet. http://www.jaydeestamping.com/weblog...neak-peek.html
My pictures weren't great... :-)
I was looking at my newly arranged ink stacker and realized how the colors now seem to "fit" together.
I can't wait to see what you create from the new colors - I'll be checking every Monday, for sure!

I'm curious how Daffodil looks compared to Barely Banana and So Saffron and a comparison of Blushing Bride to Blush Blossom. Also how does the grape compare to Vintage Violet? I'm not sure of you can do all these comparisons but these have me the most curious. TIA and ...
Happy Crafting (even if it isn't with the new colors ... yet!)

I just finished photographing these colors...I need to go pick up my grandson in a few minutes so I will try to get the pictures uploaded during his nap...in about an hour and a half?
After my photographing expedition here this morning, I decided to put the colors (current, new, retired, really retired) in color order in a spiral bound book...probably in 1/4 sheets. So in the process of doing that I found a whole BUNCH of GORGEOUS monochromatic color combos! You could also call those 2-step combos, or dynamic duos, or whatever. But some of them are in groups of 4 coordinating colors! I will try to photograph those as well and get them uploaded.
At first when we were sent the new colors - I thought :( I was really going to miss the old ones. But once I started to pull out the retired colors I too noticed some I never used!
Now that I am putting together color sample sheets for my new Stamp Club members I am loving the new color collections! They are perfectly balanced. I stamped a small image, then stamped it off right next to it, colored a little with the matching marker, and put a punched piece of coordinating card stock of each color on a chart and it really makes a big difference in how I viewed the new color renovation. I think it is a success!
Here's how I would describe them:
Blushing Bride--an ever so slightly dusty pink
Poppy Red--bright orange-y red, looks just like poppies
Peach Parfait--looks like a yummy elberta peach skin
Pear Pizzaz--looks just like a green anjou pear skin
Concord Crush--a deep, rich blue-violet, looks like concord grapes

Diane - I told you.... once you start playing with these new color combos you can't stop... seriously.... thank you for taking all the great comparisons. so, which is your favorite new color?

I must have bad eyesight because they look really drab and dull to me for some reason. (humm??)
Blushing Bride 928 Blush Pink + 1092 Nectar
Poppy Parade 922 Poppy Red
Peach Parfait 1033 Mineral Orange
Pear Pizzaz 1089 Pale Sage + 989 Chartreuse
Concord Crush 1007 Imperial Violet + 996 Black Grape
If one of the colors has two pencils listed, color a light, even layer of the lighter color then lay on a light, even layer of the darker color. Go back to the lighter color and use a circular coloring motion to blend the colors together.
I am going to the downloads thread now to update my matching chart over there.
Thank you so much for the details on the new colors. My cattie is en route but I'm as curious as the next girl about all of this. I especially appreciate the comparison photos and the listing of Prismacolor matches. Great job for all of us!
Thanks, so much, for doing this comparison, Diane! I just bought a set of Prismacolor. I'm going to check which pencils I have...and which I'll still need to buy to go with SU's card stock. :-)
You are a gem for taking the time to gather the cardstock, photograph, upload, and share ... and then you included PrismaColor matches too!
I think I will love all the colors but am glad I stocked up on amethyst and lilac (in case I ever start my wedding album ... it was only over 20 years ago!)

It's just the reflection of the flash - these new colors are rich, vibrant colors. I love the new rennovated colors - I say way to SU! for giving us colors that reflect what we see everyday.
I have to say that the only color I'll miss is cameo coral and not for the paper, but the ink for making blended skies. I'm sure with the new colors I'll find a new blend that I'll just love.

Disclaimer: I gathered information from a lot of sources so thank you to everyone who had done the initial work.
The RGB codes may vary on your printer as these colors are based on my HP scanner.
No - I will not convert this to Excel - I'm an MS Word person and really dislike Excel, sorry!
I do not have all the prisma pencils and copics so I matched where I could. I'm sure someone will probably supply new information as we go along and I can update my chart.

Diane, thanks for all the colour combos, I really appreciate your time and efforts. I thought I could live without the new colours for a while, now I am not so sure and have started a wish list which is growing longer by the day, and I haven't even seen a catty yet!!!! The only good thing is I have time to save and I will not be able to get my hands on these until end Aug/ear Sept when I am hoping to come back to the States for a visit.
