Default Need help with background stamps...

I am thinking of purchasing some of the background stamps (from SU). Someone told me that it can be difficult to get them properly inked and then to get them to stamp correctly. Does anyone have any advise on how to use these and make them look their best? I really do like quite a few of them.

Thanks

Use a brayer to ink up your background stamp (use the rubber attachment, not the foam), set your stamp rubber side up, place your cardstock over the inked top, set a piece of scratchpaper over the top of that and rub all over. Carefully lift off the scratchpaper and cardstock.

I usually just use my inkpad, directly rubbing and tapping against the stamp, instead of vice versa? But, as Novell mentioned, a brayer would also serve the purpose, just adds an extra item to clean, tho?

And, I work with my large background stamps just as she described; much easier--I have small hands and find it hard to grip the stamp, so that solution is perfect, plus, I get far better alignment and all-over impression from that direction, too.

I have never had a hard time using a background stamp by working with it as they described but if you try it the other way, like you normally would with a stamp it hardly ever turns out like you want it to. The only time I do the normal way is when I use it with bleach and I don't want it to imprint perfectly.

I love background stamps...you can't go wrong or have enough of them!!
