I know what you're thinking ... "she's crazy posting that here." Hear me out, please. I use low odor mineral spirits when I play with my prisma color pencils. Do you know how fast that stuff evaporates? I do now. I am looking for those cool little bottles that the salons use for their nail polish remover - you know - little pump in the middle and the liquid is safe inside?
I realize Gina K sells some for about $25. Her's are beautiful and classy but overkill for my needs. I'm looking for a cheap version. Has anyone seen them? I've looked on-line (I'm not ready to buy from Hong Kong yet) and multiple beauty supply stores. I just can't find them! Don't the hobby suppliers know how useful this item would be? Oh - I'm just outside Houston if location is important.
If you have any suggestions on where to look or you've found them on-line, please let me know.
I was going to suggest Sally Beauty Supply I think I have seen them there before. I am a licensed nail tech so I usually go to get mine at the professional beauty supply store. I have never thought of using them for that, I will definately have to give it a try. They usually run from about $9-$15 depending on the quality. I am sorry I don't have an on-line supplier for you. Maybe someone else will have better luck helping. Good Luck on your search!

I bought an inexpensive plastic one in a beauty supply store in a mall. It was only 3 or 4 dollars. I've seen them on Ebay for about the same price, but I haven't looked lately. Good luck.
Hey guys, just wanted to mention that all plastics aren't rated for OMS. When we were choosing our packaging, we chose a bottle rated for acetone, the main ingredient in acetone based nail polish remover which is the harshest of the bunch. We thought if the bottle could handle acetone, which actually can melt certain kinds of plastic, it would be fine with OMS. Not so. The bottles got mushy with the OMS. So if you can find glass, that's your safest bet.
Just don't want anyone to be disappointed with a purchase.
Hugs,
Gina K.

That'a a great idea! I've been keeping mine in a little glass mason jar with metal lid but this idea seems like it would be easier than messing with the lid on my jar all the time.
They have several but I bought the cheapo plastic 4 oz model for $5.95 and so far no problems. This is the name: Plastic Liquid Dispenser Stainless Steel Pump
I bought mine off of Ebay for about $10, but it is glass. Definitely watch the plastic...I used to have mine in just a plastic jar that I actually found in the art department of M's but eventually it started to kind of expand and lost it's shape.

Thanks for the warning. I've had mine for almost a year and no expansion so far, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. The worst thing that has happened so far is that it tipped over and I didn't see it and it ran everywhere! I use my original gamsol bottle for travel.

Thank you, ma'am. I can't tell you how many times I've "melted" things on my desk by putting liquids in the wrong type of container. Watch out for paint thinner and paintbrush cleaner. <grin> So far - for glass - yours are the best deal. I'm just trying to find a usable plastic.
You could also try a medical supply store. They use these types of containers to "wet" the cotton swabs with rubbing alcohol before giving you a needle.

Do they do that anymore? At my hospital we've gone completely to the little individually wrapped alcohol pads-that probably cost about 10 times as much as a "squish" of alcohol!! And we wonder why health care costs are going crazy . . .
I am heavy handed with the OMS and the stumps. I put a few drops on a cottonball that is in a small container. It lasts alot longer, it doesn't smell as much, it sure doesn't evporate as fast and I can control IMS better. I have the container you are talking about but have gone to the cottonball idea. Of course, it wasn't my idea, but I love it.
I have mine in a small, flat, round Creative Memories containers with several of those flat cotton make-up pads in the bottom. I've used it like this for over a year and the plastic is still fine. I poured enough oms to cover the pads then just keep the lid on when not in use. It's perfect to press my stump down into the cotton and wait for the stump to absorb a bit then keep dipping as needed. I'm sure a flatter baby food jar would work too,if you are wanting glass. I seldom have to add more oms. It's a bit ghetto, but it's basically free.
