Default The miracle of acetate

Feeling uninspired the other night, when I suddenly spotted an old pad of acetate sheets. "How would rubber stamps work on acetate?" I mused. With my favorite VersaFine ink and a rather detailed stamp, I started playing. Acetate takes the image beautifully. And since the ink didn't dry, I could layer images several times over. Or clean the acetate and start all over again, with a different color or a different image. Many of you probably know this trick, but I just wanted to share.

If you don't mind me asking - what were you doing with your stamped images? Given that Versafine doesn't dry on acetate no matter how long you leave it, I'm curious as to what use you had for these.

You're right, I didn't make that very clear. I laid the stamped acetate on paper and rubbed so the (reverse now!) image appeared on paper. (Smooth paper recommended, watercolor paper was not a good choice.) Lifted the acetate sheet off, repositioned and rubbed on the paper again. Faded layers looked interesting. Or ink, rub, repeat.

Stazon ink will dry on acetate. I, too, had tried Versa-Fine and it did not dry.
Have fun with your experimenting.

This is a good way to get a reflection image
