A friend of mine wrote this article for our local paper - it's such a beautiful story of friendship and the uniting power of 'real mail'. Just had to share!
Thanks for sharing this - a great story. Love the convenience of e-mail (especially for business), but I kind of miss "real" mail for personal, friendly correspondence. As others have said, I need to remedy that & send more!
This IS a BEAUTIFUL STORY, Dina! Friendships are SO IMPORTANT!!! I know the importance of sending actual mail...my mother used to send us mail when we were little from all over the country. She did this for a year, it was always signed, "Your Secret Pal." She wanted us to know someone other than herself cared for us. Then, after the year, she told us who our "Secret Pal" was. I still enjoy getting mail today. Today, my dear friend surprises me with cards. She doesn't make them herself, it isn't her thing, but she thought enough of me to take the time & money & effort to write! (And we keep in contact daily through e-mail too! LOL) Thank you for sharing such a sweet friendship with us!!! ;)
Can I share this story and link on my stamping facebook page? I'm always talking about how we need to reach out to others via snail mail more. With the digital world we live in and the disconnect we have with face-to-face communications, the next best thing to reach theirs hearts is via snail mail. Everyone that I have sent a card to have let me know how much they loved going to the post box and getting a card, and how much that it meant to them to receive. Most have displayed them in their homes for a little while and it has brought them much comfort. We all need to reach out to others more often. Please let me know if it is OK to repost. Thanks.
What a special story and friendship. I cry at the drop of a hat, so this story had me reaching for the whole box of tissues. How wonderful for these two ladies.

Friendship the word that means love, caring, sharing, remembering, supporting and many other words. How lucky we are to have friendships. Thanks Splitcoaststampers for your friendships. I look forward to the friendly newsletters and all your creativity.

I do the same thing, Octoberbabe, so was glad I hadn't put my makeup on yet when I read this. I'm so glad you commented about a close-up picture of the tin, Dina...I had completely missed that there was a p.2. That tin is absolutely perfect for the chore it's had over the years.
