I'm in New Zealand, but I know Australia doesn't have Michaels, but they have a similar chain called Spotlight. They have Target too but I'm not sure if it's the same Target as the US - it's more like a general store like K-Mart. South Africa doesn't have either Michaels or Target (I'm from there originally so know).

My guess is that they don't have any of those stores. From the things that I've read so far I think that we are very fortunate here in the variety of stamping/crafting items we have available to us. If by chance they had what you sent them they could always give it to another crafting friend. I know that a few people that I've spoken to from Australia have said that they don't have the selection that we do and I would think South Africa might have even less. FWIW

I've lived overseas and it was possible to find some kinds of crafting things, but no big craft stores at all. I'm sure anything you send would be much appreciated, especially stuff we all brag about on SCS such as Dollar Tree, Target, and M's $1 cool stuff!
I am originally from the states and have lived in Australia for a couple years. Over here we have very limited availability :( to the fun stuff everyone talks about getting at Walmart, Target, Dollar Tree etc. (we were just in the states and I sent myself a huge package back home filled with "treasures"). Plus, if you locate fun things for altering/stamping they are very expensive. So, I'm sure anyone you are sending to will appreciate anything you mail.
Your question, definitely not "dumb" as they say Texas is a whole other country, right... Anyhoo, I agree ANYTHING you send will be MUCH appreciated from my experience being stationed overseas for a second time... I think embellishments would be a hit these days... Even scraps of cute paper or ribbon would be cool... Anyone want my address  Ok, well... at least we've got 100 Yen stores and cheap Copics ;) Cheers...

... and decent sushi *envy*
The UK doesn't have Michaels, JoAnns, Target... If you look at the web sites for those stores, they have 'store locators' which will give you a pretty good indication of whether they have operations out of the US (so Michaels gives Canadian options, Joanns does not for example).

Oh gosh I didn't even think of looking there. Thanks!!!
Tilly, Target in the States is a "general" discount store kind of like K-Mart. IMO it is nicer, cleaner, better quality items, etc, but you can buy toilet cleaner there too, so it is probably the same store that you know in AUS.
