Default "Male" loss poem?

I have a poem that I like to include with sympathy cards for folks who are grieving a female (it refers to a ship, "her" sails, etc. - why is it that cars, planes and boats are female?). But I don't have one for anyone who has lost a father/grandfather/husband, etc. Any suggestions?

I don't know if this would work for a card because it's a little long, but I received this when my husband passed away in January, and I really love it.

Remember Me

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
Or it can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he's gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he'd want: smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.

My take on this (and have discussed with DH) is that men are more comfortable openly ''loving'' a female - and they DO LOVE THEIR TOYS ~ LOL!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. That is a lovely poem, and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing it with us.
