I posted a card I made using an image of the Mackinac Bridge that Emily (stampinout) sent me. Several people have asked where the stamp came from and Emily gave me the information so I thought I'd just post it here.
The company is called Sunnyside Stamps, a Michigan based company, and besides the Mackinac Bridge, they have many of the Michigan lighthouses! I think that's so cool! Probably because I've been to most of them and live near a bunch
Emily must have the larger of the bridge stamps and the cost is $12.00. It's almost at the end of their on-line catalog. Some great beach scene stamps too and a deer on the last page that I *must* have!
I see stamps in my very near future!

My husband is from Michigan.. we have been over the Mackinac bridge many times when we go to the U.P. to visit his grandmother/aunts/uncles.. on one of our trips we went to go visit Mackinac Island and took our bikes with us.. along the way we passed a stamp store.. I bought a bunch of stamps there that day, but didn't see any of the bridge or I would've snatched it up.. it is BEAUtiful in that part of the United States.. if you have never been up there.. be sure and visit and get a Pastie.. yum!
thanks for the info on the stamp.. I am going to head to go take a peek.
Pam
*my husband had an uncle that worked on the crew that paints the bridge.. we love to see documentarys on tv about it.. it really is stunning to see in person

I'm from Wisconsin and have been over the Mighty Mac a few times. I had the opportunity to see one of the beautiful man made sites I have ever seen. Thanks for the link. I love lighthouses, also. My TV room is decorated with them.
I actually have one of their stamps! We have a cottage near the Old Mission light house - although they call it Mission Point light house. I have that stamp. Not even sure where I got it. Thanks for the link. I may have to get some others. Do they have a petosky stamp?? I wish there were more stamps relating to lake beaches. Most beach stamp sets have crabs, shells, etc. that you find at the ocean. I noticed they have a few things more lake related in the catalog. Thanks again.

Oh.. a Petosky stamp would be neat. One of my son's teachers is from Michigan and he has a rock collection in his classroom.. my son picked out the Petosky stone right away. We were unpacking and found our box of stones, he took some to school to show his teacher. I agree about stamps for the lake beaches.. it is beautiful driving along US 2 from Curtis to the bridge. Somewhere saved on discs is hundreds of pictures we have taken of the years... the stamped images would be awesome to use on scrapbook pages.

Thanks so much for sharing! I see I am not alone in my love of lighthouses. My favorites are of Lake Superior. There is a great Split Rock Lighthouse stamp in the catalog. I have been collecting Lake Superior stamps of an artist named Gwen Nordenstrom. Her stamps are wonderful, but so far I have been having a hard time finding all of her stamps. There are a few places around the Duluth, Minnesota area that sell the stamps and I have snatched up just about every one I can find. She does some gulls, boats, and shore stamps. If anyone has a source for her stamps, please share. Thanks again for the link to the catalog!
Thanks so much for the link. I was born and raised in Michigan. We just moved to PA 2 years ago from the Muskegon area. We visited all the lighthouses in that area frequently. I have a picture that I took of the White River lighthouse above my computer desk. I sure miss MI!
How exciting to see all of these Michigan light houses! I lived in Grand Haven until high school. Many the perch my dad and I caught off the pier there. My little brother loved it too--but he always had to have a harness so he didn't dive in. I've been gone from there over 55 years so it was a thrill to see it!
I met her this summer in Duluth at the Corps of Engineers building. We sat and chatted for a long time. She will sell direct, but unfortunately doesn't have an online presence. I had her card and unfortunately misplaced it. I'm sure that you can find contact information for her by searching for it on the internet.
I found this address online through a white pages search: 4410 Robinson Street, Duluth MN 55804-2116, phone 218-525-2759.
Cheers!!!

PS I don't have any of her stamps yet, but I do have Splt Rock and the Duluth bridge stamps from another source.

Thanks for the info, Peggy! I loved your card! I'm a Michigander, too. We spent a lot of vacations in the UP, and while the bridge is beautiful, it always gave me the willies to drive over it....probably ever since that Yugo got blown over the side and into the lake many many feet below! I've had friends do the Labor Day walk over the bridge as well.
When the stamp set Coast to Coast came out, I remember a lot of us Michganders complaining that there wasn't a single Michigan lighthouse in the set! I used to ink off the name of one of them and just write in "Whitefish Point" or some other famous MI lighthouse instead.
Thanks so much for the link! I walk every day along the pier and lighthouse in St. Joe so I'm extremely partial to that stamp I didn't know they had a catalog as I got my stamp years ago. Thanks again!!
