Anyone ever want to stamp some cards and then go to ur desk and all of a sudden u have no idea what kind of card u want to make. I get so agraviated that I usually don't acomplish anything and just walk away. Seems to be happening alot lately. Any ideas of what I should do. Am I the only one out here that does that. confused:
Well, I am probably the last person to be giving you advice, but here goes. Lately, when Gina K. shows how to do a new technique or somebody from SC I try to make a card following their hints, I am pretty proud of myself. I am not as good as they are of course, but then I the other hand of have seen a lot worse. I managed to get some cards done this way. Hope this helps.
This happens to me all the time...a lot more lately..I think it is because there are so many new goodies I want to use that I just cant think...pretty sad isnt it.
blessings.
It happens to me sometimes too. It makes me sad, but I think part of it is that I have so many stamps and I can sometimes get a little "overwhelmed" with where to start. Other times, I think its because I just don't have a direction or a clear idea. When I have felt like that, sometimes it helps me to print an example an make the card exactly as they did....that way, I accomplish something and I can move forward from there. Don't be discouraged!
Hello! You are not alone, I'm sure at one time or another we've all been there. I know I have been. What I do is choose a stamp set, SU for example, I look at the idea book & catalog for ideas and then I check the gallery here for ideas too This website is the BEST place to look. There are sooooo many talented women/men here and you can always find a card to case. That is what I do! change some things up and do some tweaking and I have a great card usually!!!
u all have GREAT ideas, I stepped outside of the stampin box. I got my cricut expressions and cut a 12x24 word "family" made out of vynil. If it wasn't for my hubby helping me put it on the wall I would have trashed it. LOL I think I should stick to cards.
Location: wishing I was in London but you'll likely find me on my couch

Check out the card sketch threads and Try an new technique or the resource section. Lots of great ideas there to get you motivated. I also need a purpose for my card---a birthday, an anniversary, a thank you--then when I am picturing what I am going to do with it, who I will present it to that really helps---even if I am doing a sketch or whatever. I just can't seem to create to create--having a purpose really helps me out.
Oh, you are not the only one! I have learned that if I just go my desk and don't have a plan, I tend to fiddle, waste time, and get cheesed off. Now, I make a rough plan of what I want to do. I choose my stamp, work out a layout, choose the dp's and match the ribbon there are then (otherwise I will spend hours trying to find a ribbon that matches and get annoyed if I can't!) - sometimes I will get out several different ribbons so I can pick the best one when I am at that stage of adding it to the card, then stamp my image and colour it but having the dp next to me so I can match colours.
If I don't know what layout to use, I will look through my sketchbooks, card samples (which I have printed off and are in folders sorted into companies, masculine, Christmas, techniques etc) + I have a folder with Sketches from various sources including cards made with that Sketch, and use this as a guide. Plus I look through my Favorites here at SCS which is always inspiring and checkout the latest Challenges.
I find that I am far more productive this way. I am just not the sort of person who can "go with the flow" when I sit at my desk 'cos usually nothing "flows" except muttering and lots of sighing! So don't be disheartened - we all create in different ways - and sometimes it is just trying a different approach that can make all the difference.
If I am not in a cardmaking mood, I don't force it, and do something either non-craft related like gardening - or I tidy my craft room and discover hidden treasures. Somehow the tidying always to seems to spark my mojo (I wish vacuuming did the same.......!).
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, this happens to me all the time. I thumb through my card magazines for ideas, check sites like Craftsuprint.com and here at Splitcoast. As JoBear2 said above, I don't force it when the mood isn't there. Give yourself some space to think and the ideas will come - think of an occasion like christenings or anniversaries and work from that idea. Today was a totally rainy day here and looks like tomorrow will be also - rainy days are always good for cardmaking! Kay
Happens to me all the time! But I keep binders and folders full of ideas and have several sketchbook books, card making magazine, and after looking at these I almost always find what I want to do next.
