Question for the posters who did craft fairs over the past few months: What were the big sellers?

I have a long stamp from Chocolate Baroque, in the UK, and I coloured up five of these and will be matting and taking them to Staples to laminate them for bookmarks. I posted them to Facebook as the recipients are not on my Facebook and they caused quite a stir.

It's been awhile since I did a craft fair, and it was a Christmas in the park, and my card sets sold well. I did four cards, envelopes, and matching tags. I made my own boxes, stamped the top of the boxes, tied up with matching tulle. Several women bought them for teacher gifts.

Papercraft items that do well every year for me are any type of notebook set, but especially the mini size. I make them using the mini composition books and mini pens both (bought at the dollar store).

It's a good time to look for composition books for holiday crafting, crayons, scissors, colored pencils for stocking stuffers with the back to school sales.

It is hotter than hades in east Texas, so I am trying to get Christmas ideas together while I hibernate from the heat.

It's been awhile since I did a craft fair, but my best seller was a set of Christmas cards, matching tags, I made a A2 sized box that I decorated to hold the cards/tags, tied up with pretty ribbon. I kept reminding people as they walked by my booth if they needed any reasonably priced school teacher/secret pal gifts.

I'm hosting a "Christmas in July" craft night at my house this Saturday. Eight crafty friends and I are making Christmas cards, decorations or gifts. Everyone is bringing a card idea and a kit for each person to make one card. (I think on this site it's called "shoe box'" kit) Gotta get started on the cards or I'll be stressing out trying to finish when I should be enjoying the season.

Cool

I already have a couple of Christmas gifts stashed away, and bough on sale.

So proud of myself.

Last year, a great seller for me was a small gift bag made with the favor boxes available at the Dollar Tree -- https://www.dollartree.com/White-Wed...5130/index.pro. I added a couple of layers of paper, a Christmas-y stamped image and a tag tied around the handle. They sold well as gift card holders or to hold small teacher or office gifts.

Those are super cute! Did you have to buy a whole case (38 packs of 12)? I would not begin to know how to price them! Can you share the cost, and whether you filled them with treats? Thanks!

Heart Oh - I LOVE this IDEA!

Well, I realize that this post above is older, however I'm trying to get my brain and hands busy making cards, gifts and even gift boxes for the holiday. I have 200 seniors each year to create for, and at present only two other people to help share the task. The idea is to have a number of cards for each them to give out to any family, friends, etc. at zero cost to them. Most have a mere $31-35 left per month from their social security checks (after their money and HUD subsidized money covers their housing etc), to purchase kleenex, shampoo, bandaids, etc. SO, gifts and cards just aren't in their budget.

Creating gifts like the one above allows them to give a card and also some gifts, and it is always so very appreciated by them. I make sure to get several boxes (at the extra lower price) of the candies used above at Costco the very moment I see them. This idea will be a WONDERFUL way to create a gift for them to give, and for myself - as a way to use up some of my lovely (hoarded) DSP!

So folks - if you remember ideas from posts from previous years, or have new ideas, please POST! I will do my best to post what I create or photos of ideas that I receive outside of SCS to create.

Hugs and many thanks in advance!
Barbara

PS - miss being a part of this group! It's been a number of years...

Gina, a huge thank you for posting this! I had a special request for butterfly items and cards for the seniors (see my previous post) this year. AND the other double bonus, is that when I make gifts that include a note pad, they're always extra happy!! THEY love pens with pads as they're mostly 80-90 years old. Some will want these for themselves, and some will give as gifts, even though the objective is to provide a selection of cards and gifts for them to choose to give as needed, at zero cost to them.

I hope that you take it as a compliment if I simply CASE your idea 100% as you have shown here. Coming up with gifts in quantities of 25-50+ per idea can be daunting. On the other hand, making so many of the same item does allow for an assembly line type approach.

Thank you for your contribution and lovely project!

Warmly,
Barbara

If you have someone to share ribbon with you could go halfers! As in you order white, they order red, and split it. Then you have both colors!

Gina,
I just peeked at this site - and WOWZA!!! I am definitely ordering soon! Like you I go through a TON of red alone during the holidays, especially when working on the projects for all the seniors.

Thank you very much! (I'm not sure if my bank account is going to be as happy as I am! )

Smiles and hugs,
Barbara

thank you! These went over very well last year, I sold a great number of them! I know the younger generations don't really send snail mail, but the older ones certainly do! I told customers "If you add a book of stamps these make great gifts! Especially if you know someone in a Nursing Home." A lot of folks were buying multiples.

It was the scotch brand. It's actually a little cheaper online. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Scotch-Thermal-Laminator-15-5-in-x-6-75-in-x-3-75-in-2-starter-pouches-8-5-in-x-11-in/17208765

I probably won't buy ribbon anywhere else!

My niece is getting married next month and she is getting the little Organza bags from there.

Their prices can't be beat!

Got new SU holiday card making stuff over the weekend. I am starting cards early this year, and finishing a long crocheted muffler for The Red Scarf Project. Getting geared for the holidays.
