Patrice, I felt your pain over the miles - glad you are making your health your top priority! - sometimes we are forced to. Costco has a great Haupia mix that we make for luaus, have you ever tried it?

Take care.

Cool

Closest Costco is about 125 miles, in Dallas. We are lucky to have a Sam's. But I have been on every Hawaii entertaining website, and have read about the Haiupui drinks. So far I have planned teriyaki marinated chicken in the crockpot, rice, macaroni salad, cabbage salad. Makepone gifts, and I am going to deck the next Dr or nurse if they ask if spam is on the menu.

Cool

Luau turned out fine, 20 people showed up, but I fixed too much food. I moved the party from the guest house to the main residence, and we had gag gifts and dessert. My dh, in a rare helping mode, threw all the leftovers out. It was a lot of food, and I was going to package it all up and take to the ER to have for lunch on Saturday. I hate waste, but not worth crying over tossed food. And a nurse and lab tech showed up wearing a twirly scarf I had made them, they were so cute.

Now count down to Christmas.

HoHoHo!!!

I know in one of these threads crafters were wanting more Christmas papers for working on next years crafts. An email sale notice for today only at Michaels lists Christmas Paper Pads at $7.99 each (reg. $19.99) while supplies last.

Whoo Hoo!!! Christmas eve, and is everything calm and controlled?

I made some observations this holiday season, I have done about a fourth of the baking, no one has missed it. Most of my gifts have been either something that can be worn, or consumeable food item, everyone so far has been thrilled.

It's been another great year, let's keep the idea's coming, and if you get anything for Christmas worth sharing, bring it on.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Next Christmas I am going to hide in a cave. Then I don't have to deal with either set of parent's. And hubby won't ask if "we" have decided on gifts. What he means is do I know what I am are buying for his mom. Cause after all I am a woman.

Ah, that always happened to me too, hubby always left it up to me and one year I didn't get her a gift, and I loudly proclaimed in front of his siblings, "you mean you forgot to get your Mother a Christmas gift"!! Didn't work, still wouldn't get it for her. I'd like to see in my marriage license where it states I have to buy for his family, send them birthday cards, etc.

Oh, by the way....

Merry Christmas, ya'll!!

Wished I would have seen these sooner, they are so cute! I'm going to try and make one with the Wilton tins that you can find at the stores.

Ok now it will not let me load the video.

I will keep this one going, add Valentine's Day to it. I have been looking for ideas, I have surgery next week, and I want all my "stuff" organized, so I can rest, recover, and get Valentine's done for the grandsons.

Bugga,

The snakes are precious, I know they loved them, and a great way to use up those accumulated scraps. Great job.

I think I might take the elf kisses and turn it in to Cupid's kisses (or something similar) for Valentine's Day.

Good luck on your surgery Patrice.

Love the snakes! Trying to figure out who I could give some to!

For another swap, I am making Valentine angels - a take off on Christmas angels using wired ribbon. Shall post pictures later. I was really lucky in finding ribbon for these in an after Christmas sale!

Here is an updated version of the hand cream that was so popular awhile back, but instead of using petroleum jelly, you use coconut cream:

Oh my gosh - Hope your back feels better soon.
Ever notice that they are always in a hurry to put up the tree, but NOBODY asks of wonders why the tree is still up?? (mine is still uo because I don't have time and cannot do it alone).
Not one person in a hurry to help put it away!! lol

Daine our tree is still up too. Sadly we didnt get it up until the 23rd this year because I was just so busy, and hubby was working. I also cant get the boxes down from the attic on my own, so we had to wait for him. I have never put a tree up so fast before we basically put it up, hung a few ornaments out up our Nativity and that was it. I couldnt see putting tons of stuff up when it just all had to come down soon.

I dont think my back will ever be okay. I had a curvature of the spine as a child and after an injury to my ankle when I was 11, and over compensating for that my back (and knee) got worse. I ripped the ligaments in my ankle on an amusement ride and couldnt walk for months. About a year later (I was still in pain daily) a doctor said he could cut them, lace them through the bones and reattach them. But he couldn't gurantee I would ever walk again if he did that. I voted no and he gave me 6 months and I'd never walk again. Happily that was 26 years ago, and although I still have pain often, I can still walk. But it already effected my knees and back.

PS the amusment park closed just about a year later because they were having so many injuries. They knew I was hurt, they had to carry me out of the park, but we never contacted them to say how badly. It was their fault, the ride operator told us to exit the cars, and the ride started up again and I got my foot trapped under the car. My toes were pulled back and my ankle forward. It was QUITE painful! Oh and the doctor who wanted to operate??? He lost his license! He was getting high on cocaine prior to operating on people. And had many many many medical malpractice suits against him!

I used these one year for my mom. She was living with my brother at the time so I sent them all to him. He put one out each morning for her before he left for work. I saw the idea in Papercrafts magazine.

Cool

My surgery went well, uneventful hospital stay, and loving my vicodin. My sweet co workers brought us homemade soup and dessert. So, five weeks off from work, got to get productive.

Bur first I am going to take some pills, and go to bed.

Cool

This laying around medicated is necessary for healing and recovery, but it is becoming a real drag. I think I am going to find a fluffy pillow that will fit in my craft chair, and create a Valentine.

I got a long weekend to endure with dh.
