I wondered about that also, a small glue dot, or snip of red tape would do the trick to hold the kisses in.

I believe on the video she said that she doesn't use anything to hold them in with.

She put her trees in a bag too, but they seemed like a tight fit, but a tiny glue wouldn't hurt I suppose. They are very cute.

I made four last night and have a dozen more of the little Hershey trees ready to fold and put together. The kisses stay in, even when standing and do not need more adhesive than she originally used. That is a huge plus for me! I will put mine in a little bag for my sale and will wrap the "trunk nuggets" in some dsp just to look a bit more finished. I tried to use miniatures, but they are too long and too thin unless I re-designed the trunk. It is easier to go buy a pkg. of nuggets!!!
Someone mentioned tissue holders in a prior post,(maybe on the other thread) and I also made those of fabric. They are easy, fun, and cheap if you get fabric remnants. The pattern I used was from Barb Mullikin's blog and I do not know how to link or add pics or I would. I sold them at my first sale for $2.50 with a pkg of tissues in them. I got the tissues 4/$1 at Target and felt it would add to the desire to buy them if they didn't have to go buy tissues. I sold about 40 of them. My chant,"Everyone you know can use one of these. They all have noses!"
blog address: barb@barbstamps.com I'm not sure when this was posted by Barb, but it is called "Fabric Tissue Holder."

Cool

You all are making me feel like a lazy slug. I have brought my Big Shot to work with me the last two days, and all I do is look at it, got nothing cut out.
In a few days I am going to be sorry for my lack of motivation.

Hi it's Brenda from QbeesQuest. Most of the kisses don't want to fall out. I usually have one that wants to slide out. You could secure that one with a little glue dot or use the Stampin' Up! clear envelopes like I suggest in step 26. The envelopes also protect the trees a little and make the recipient think twice before devouring your hard work! LOL!

Thanks Craftymomto2 for posting my Hershey's Christmas trees. I'm flattered.

I make mini loaves of breads, pumpkin, banana etc and I make chocolate butter to go with it. Use real butter and beat it until fluffy. Add honey to taste and chocolate syrup to taste. I watch all year for small containers to put it in. I also make honey butter and cinnamon honey butter. I use the same ingredients omitting chocolate and for the cinnamon butter add cinnamon to taste. I just do it by how it looks. People love this. Then of course I have to have a handmade tag on it. I used to do this for teachers but now am a grandma.

That is a good question? Add up how much you would spend on the candy to make the little trees, cardstock, and embellishments, and at least double the amount, that would be a good starting point.

Deansgal, I did a quick cost analysis of the trees and figured that each tree costs about 78 cents plus ribbon and whatever amount of adhesive you use. I bought a large bag of nuggets (mixed, not seasonal wrap) for just under $9. There were 112 pieces in my bag, so that figured to be about 8 cents each. I bought a large bag of silver(regular wrap) of kisses for the same amount, but there were 252 pieces in that bag, so each kiss was less than 4 cents. I bought a small bag of the Christmas wrapped kisses with 72 pieces and they were $2.78, so each kiss was still under 4 cents. (I was surprised by this, I thought they would average out to cost more than the large "econo" bag!) So, since you need 9 kisses and 2 nuggets per tree, that makes 62 cents for candy. If you figure the cardstock at customer cost, including tax/ship, then each piece is about 35 cents. You can make 4 trees with 2 sheets of green and 1 of brown. That averages to be about 26 cents per tree for c/s. I can't figure the ribbon because the cost of that varies and I usually do not use SU ribbon for my craft-fair items unless I simply do not have anything else that works well. I love ribbon and buy tons of it all year long. I wrapped ribbon all the way around my tree like Qbee did and tied the bow separately and stuck it on top with a glue dot. I used the same ribbon and went around the two nuggets so that they looked like a gift under the tree. The Christmas nuggets she used actually have tiny little red bows on the wrapper, but I just got the mixed bag of nuggets because I am also making them to put in the matchboxes. I will most likely charge $2.50 for them because that is all I charge for my snowmen and I don't think I would sell many at $3.00. I found them very easy to make and so I think that is a fair price for this market. We'll see by the weekend!

Hi Everyone,

Full of Turkey?? After I recovered a little bit, I made 4 of the cute little Candy Kiss trees. They went together super quick, and I'm delighted with them. I'm going to make more for Christmas gifts for those I just want to give a "little something" to.

Wanted to say, don't worry about the kisses falling out. I think when you wrap the ribbon around it tightens the whole thing up so they are pretty secure.

Also, I didn't have any brown cardstock, but had lots of Kraft, so that's what I used for the trunks, and I think it looks fine.

Cool

Hey Mary,

Cute idea for the nail file boxes, those would be great for a co worker birthday treat.

Another holiday tip a friend pointed out to me, if you do any donating to women's shelters during the holidays, be sure and clip the coupons for feminine hygiene products. I clipped at least $15.00 dollars in coupons from the Sunday paper. Every penny counts in this economy, and helps get more bang for the buck. My town has a few shelters for women to escape domestic abuse, and I donated for Christmas baskets last year. Glad someone reminded me about the coupons.

I have a ruptured eardrum, and it hurts. All I have been able to do for the last 24 hrs is lay in the recliner, heating pad on ear, amd wait for next pain pill. I had so much to do, tree should already be up and decorated. Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

I know some of the women's shelters around here like those hotel samples that we all have in our bathroom cabinets that we don't use too! That is a great idea on the coupons too, anyway to help is great, thanks for the tip!

Upper respiratory infection, fluid got pushed into the ear canal. Infection set in, pressure on the eardrum caused it to rupture. I had this happen several times as a child, caused eardrum to scar over, but it's been at least 35 yrs since last ear infection.

Nothing like getting old, and falling apart. lol

I have been very lucky, haven't had a lot of ear problems except a few infections as a child.

Gina,

Bleh is right, nothing worse than sick kids, especially at the holidays. My town has a horrible respiratory virus going around, massive pneumonias, hospital admissions. Hope your family is on the mend quickly.

Cool

I hyperextended my lower back putting up the tree. I have six herniated discs, so I have totally enraged my lower back. I am a little better today, but I had two days off to work to get Christmas done, I did nothing but lay in bed, eat Vicodin, and whine. Next year if they want to look at a pretty tree, family can go the mall. I hate this, and if I don't feel better in two days, I will have to cancel my office luau, I am supposed to host this friday nite, but I am not going to do food preparation, cleaning and cooking for about 25 people while in pain. Usually I would push through it, but this Superwoman took my cape to the cleaners a couple of years, and did not pick it back up.
