Hi Annette! I'm knee deep in the kitchen cooking, getting ready for a small family gathering (only 7 of us today)!

Hey Mary,

Thanks for the tutorial, I got it done. Looking at the scrub recipe, I would have to read up a little more on grapeseed oil. Maybe if it was refrigerated,it would keep longer. Never used that kind of oil before. I have been given a homemade peppermint soap bar before, and it was nice to use.

I am getting tired, glad this season is almost to a close.

This is not really a Christmas idea, but it could be.

I just "made" a gift for our grandson's college graduation gift. We gave cash, but I wanted to do something tangible as well.

I used a 4x6 album, and gathered photos from our first visit, when he was 10 days old to the present time. I was in a time crunch (aren't we all?) so I just used our printer to make copies - I used the original in the album, and kept the copies. I added captions to identify the photos, and tried to have as much of a selection as possible.
What a hit!
I must confess that I belong to that group of people who has some albums but more photo boxes filled with photos to sort one of these days.... so it is a challenge.
But that gave me another idea - my plans are now to organize photos for each grandchild, to be given at an appropriate occasion - our family is certainly not going to want to do all that after we are gone or no longer able to help out.

I hope this gives some one an idea for a simple but popular gift to remember. I did not have time nor the inclination to do a fancy album, so simple worked for me!

Dorothy, I think that is a wonderful idea! You can purchase those albums on black Friday for 1/2 off or often at AC Moore has the 6 x 6 for 3.99 each or less. You could purchase them and work on them as you go. What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.

I'm seeing a lot of after Christmas sales being snagged up for several of these great ideas. That way we have what we need for next year and can work on them during the year.

I came up with a idea today, cookie tray in a bag. I baked three kinds of cookies( large batches) layered a dozen of each cookie between wax papers in a large Christmas metal tin ($1.00 from Dollar Store), enclosed a large metal Santa cookie tray (49 cents a piece, found at Bed, Bath, and Beyond in July), enclosed a small ziploc bag of peppermint patties. Told recipient how to arrange cookies on tray. All the cookies could be frozen, whole tin set in freezer until the weekend.

I am getting things done. And if I do forget someone, I will catch up with them on Valentine's.

Thumbs up

Remember, if doing any after Christmas sales, any red candles, ribbon, trays, look for anything to be used for Valentine's Day. And on sale makes it better.

Diane and Patrice ~ I'm like you guys. I purchase for next year and try to remember Valentines day with the red and let's not forget St Patty's day with the green. My problem, sometimes, is remembering what I did with it all. 2012 is my year to get it all sorted out so I can be lazy and not have to search for it. LOL

hahaha..yes!
Last year, I actually sorted everything and put them into boxes, and labelled the boxes with the contents. I also wrote myself a list to keep in my "craft sale notebook" which I write in every year.
It helped soooo much!

The only thing I forgot I had was some extra Hershey Kisses, which worked out jusy fine. I quickly turned them into mini ornaments and they sold well.

Well ladies,

Christmas 2011 is done, and I actually got something done this year. 20 stockings, 25 stocking stuffers, 3 dry erase tiles, 6 holly placemats. But I am going to keep the momentum going, I usually pack up all my holiday fabric, but going to leave it out. Next week will be slow at work, going to cut out placemats, tablerunners, and be ready to sew on all year.

Now got to get scrounging around in the gallery, find a Valentine to case.

Ho Ho Ho

OK ladies. I just came up with these at the last minute before a show to use my hershey kisses up (do you believe I don't actually like them!).
The pic is not great but you get the idea. I sold them for $1 each and they sold like crazy. I was surprised.

Those are cute Diane. I think I've heard of them being called "Kiss Tents" or something along that line.

Lianne, I know! I was thinking that is a good recipe to have if you want something sweet but don't want two dozen cookies in the house!

Patrice, you're right it has been a very busy year. I'm hoping next year will be more productively busy than crazy busy. I love the fact that I have this thread to fall back on for ideas for next year.

Absolutely, Patrice. There are too many good ideas on here for us to let them all go away. If nothing else we need to go through all the pages and copy all the recipes and links, etc.

Happy New Year,

I spent most of yesterday cleaning holiday stamps, clearing out clutter, and get my work area where I can work. Took a few hours, but room looks better.

Now looking for some Valentine inspiration.

Hey Gina,

That's the way to do it. I got my grandsons party favors for next years Christmas parties for 75% off. And I marked in my dayplanner where I stashed them away.

Any Valentine ideas?

I love doing that kind of thing but I ususally forget where I put them or that I did it. Put it into my planner is a fantastic idea, simple yet brilliant. Thank you

Another idea I cam up with is keeping up with my grandson SS numbers. So many parents come to the emergency room to check in their children, and don't have the social security numbers. When I get the newest school pictures, I put them in my billfold with their ss# on the back. We have had a couple of injury visits, and this has been a big help, and timesaver.

When I get the newest school pictures, I put them in my billfold with their ss# on the back. We have had a couple of injury visits, and this has been a big help, and timesaver.
I would never write important information on the back of photos that I carried in my purse. I am probably a bit jaded since I have had my purse stolen twice, but that just sounds too dangerous to me with all the fraud happening right now. I never give the hospitals or doctors' offices my children's social security numbers. I have never been pressured to supply the number when I leave that space blank. I only supply our insurance card numbers. Our insurance carrier had to stop using social security numbers as the insured person's identification number because of all the fraud.

At the ER I work for, the ss number is asked for at every admission, and if the parent does not supply it, then they are given several phone calls to see if it can be retrieved. This is our policy, helps cut down on insurance fraud.
