So where do you find the paint cans? I love these ideas!
I am not only doing the paint can gifts for myself to give away, but also offering them as crafts for my Craft Camp this month and next month. So I bought in bulk at Sun West Container here in Phoenix, Arizona. I ordered a case of gallon cans (34 total) and paid $1.66 per can which included the lid, ears and handle (when buying in bulk you need to make sure of that - some places charge more for lids and handles). It made it much more cost effective than going to Lowe's or Home Depot. I have heard from other people that their Lowe's or Home Depot offered them for $1.99, but ours are charging between $4 and $5 for them, which was just too much for me to spend for all the ones I need.
I ended up buying one case, but now the orders are flooding in for craft camp and I'm going to need to buy one more case minimum. One gal today ordered 25 kits that need the cans!!! She'll never have time to make them all during our craft day so I will show her how for each set and then she can make the duplicates at home.
That's a lot of paint cans. I need to scoot by some paint stores, they are probably cheaper than the chain hardware places.
I finished my holiday baking basket for the hospital's annual fundraiser for the United Way. I spray painted a basket I got at a garage sale for a dime, some measuring cups, cute holiday recipe cards, stamped/scrapped cookie recipe card, some small tiles I stamped on for refrigerator magnets, decorative candles I stamped snowflakes on, magnetic note pad, and my potholder I sewed, a bottle of saigon cinnamon, and gift tags they can tie onto their baked goods.
I delivered my stuff for the basket auction, and just felt like my stuff looked paltry sitting against all the other baskets. Whole departments went together to furnish stuff , so they had a lot more $$$ to put together big huge baskets. Next year I will know, and can prepare better, but I hope someone bids a few dollars on my basket, for a good cause.

Again, tired, going to bed.

I bet it turned out great - we are our worst critics some times! I think its great that you made such a lovely basket for the event. I need to start doing things like this - make things for charities. I make cards, and never send them. I love making projects and do that for gifts but sometimes I want to make something but don't really have anyone to give it to. It would be a good idea to have some basket/gift things made up for when I see events that I could contribute to.
I have not read through all the threads but this year I am revamping an idea I did several years ago.
Fill the wisk part of a kitchen wisk with Hershey's Hugs and Kisses. I wrap it in cellophane and add a big bow. Then I type and stamp a cute tag that reads "Wisking you a Merry Christmas". Hugs and Kisses, signed xxxx
I saw this idea on a website - could have been here, years ago. Now that my DD is in a new school with new teachers I can do this idea again. It is a small inexpensive gift but a very cute idea.
I feel yukky today, sore throat, achy all over. I brought stuff to work with me, holly leaves I could be cutting out, but I just don't feel like it. Feel like I am wasting time, but all I can do is watch the clock, and go home.
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
I had this site bookmarked as it has some good ideas with matching verses, including the 'whisk' one, which I've made a few times. It's always well received and looks cute and Christmas-y. http://www.executivehomemaker.com/20...ap-gift-ideas/

Those were cute! TFS!
How are you feeling Patrice? Better I hope, that cold is going around in our part of the country, not any fun...ask me how I know!
Feeling better, still coughing a lot. This stuff is no fun, and the ER I work in was packed with people with this stuff. No positive flu though, which is a good thing. Takes about 36 hrs to get through the worst of it. But I recovered soon enough to get the phone call from daughter, saying she needs a poodle skirt for 50's day at the school she teaches at. Six years of college, and she can't figure out a pattern, and sew a few straight seams, and run some elastic for the waistband. And I got her a nice sewing machine for Christmas. So I am constructing the skirt for her. And lucky me, I had five yards of pink broadcloth stashed away, had the ticket still pinned to it, $1.29 a yard, in 1995. My hoarding came in handy this time around. lol
How is the holiday plans coming along for everyone?
we have seen TONS of positive flu....like probably 20 just yesterday!(i am a pediatric nurse)...doesn't look good for winter ladies! stay well....wash those hands!LOL

Hmmm...sound like something my girl would do to me too! But she does know how to text on her phone with no help!! Skirt sounds cute! Glad that your feeling better too.
Here is what I'm planning for Christmas this year:
Magnetic Paper Dolls (build-a-bears and people) using big shot dies for my niece
Altered Tin with coloring sheets (made of cardstock and build-a-bear stamps) with crayons for my niece
Lands End like tote bags decorated with fabric cut out with Big Shot dies for SIL, half-sister, friends, and others
Baby book of my son using My Digital Studio for the grandparents and possibly great-grandparents.
Christmas Ornament with a picture of my son that can be used as Grandma jewelry throughout the rest of the year using SU's simply adorned charms for the grandmas
Note card set using Medallion and Lovely letters to put in the tote bags

Patrice,
Please make another cute smaller basket (like the one you described) for next year. As an auction participant, it's difficult when all the items are "big" and my budget ISN'T! (especially this year, with the economy and all). I'm always thrilled when I find a nice, smaller item so that I can participate, keep in my budget, support a good cause and not feel ridiculous with my "reasonable" bid being so small on a big item. I'm sure that I'm not the only person that feels this way at charity auctions. Maybe you've found yourself a niche!

I agree with you...bigger is not always better...as alot of people are finding out these days!
I found out the basket auction raised over $3,000 for the United Way, so I was glad to be a part of the effort.
And I have a wedding shower next week. So out shopping this afternoon, I got to thinking, when I first got married, we had no Christmas stuff, and money was tight. So I thought about making a holiday basket. Making my placemats, tablerunner, some Christmas cards, doing a stamped candle.
I better quit thinking, and start peoducing. lol
Making up about a dozen post it note holders with gel pens on the side. Using this tutorial http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad...t-note-pe.html Very quick and easy. Plan on these going to teachers, office staff, etc.
Now I just have to get those Gel Pens....or something similar!
I am finishing up the placemats, got the candle finished last night. I need to practice on the stamping on candle technique a little bit more, but I got it to look okay, and I stuck some brads into the wax while it was still warm from the embossing gun. I can get things done, just takes a little time, and dh eating some ham and cheese sandwiches. lol

I went through some recipes earlier in the week to get organized. Lots more people are getting handmade gifts this year so I figure I need to add a bit to my ususal cookies. I'm trying to find stuff to fit the size of the containers I've been saving - and some smell like coffee so I need coffee type treats in them. I plan to decorate them now and then carefully add the treats in Dec.
Okay computer, behave. Is there anyway to delete duplicate posts?
