Okay....remember those altered composition notebooks I said I was going to start....well, I did. I do not have them embelished yet but, I have all the DP on. I picked up a few more books this week at Office Depot, they were on sale for 99cents.

I went today to the nice fabric store and found fabric on sale for pillowcases and totebags. Got a little sidetracked in finding fabric for table runners for fall and halloween. Oh well!

With only 4 months to go.....what is everyone else up to??

Janey, I just had to take two minutes to agree with you. I am a DIL and I have had my fair share of problems with my MIL, however I love her and appreciate her very much. I know that I am not always an easy person to get along with and I have had a hard time learning how my IL's do things, but none the less they are my family and I would not trade them. I am going to fix a few monogram note cards for my grandson's kindergarten teacher. He starts next week, so he will have a first day of school gift.

And I have the John Deere curtain to finish for the boys bedroom.
And I will make a carrotcake cheesecake for a kickboxing party.

I will be coming back to work on Monday to get some rest.

Sounds like a lot of work, Patrice! I am sewing a valance for my Mom's guest bedroom this weekend in addition to finishing 2 Hawaiian items....a shift dress with scoop neck gathers and a Happi Coat (sort of like a kimono but shorter and much more comfy). Dh and I are going to a Jimmy Buffet concert weekend in Wisconsin next weekend with friends.

Bought fabric for 3 table runners and 2 Magic Pillowcases yesterday....got them washed and ironed last night in front of the tube. Also worked on more crochet trims.

Our son does not live with us, but we stop in to have time with him about 3 times a week. Clark is a senior this year....he has Cerebral Palsy and lives in a group home. It is boring where he lives so, we try to provide some respite from that life. We watch movies and work on crafts. He and I are starting to plan our gifts for teachers and friends already!

Have a great weekend!

Well, TEAZ, I think your MIL is lucky to have you in her family....it's obvious that you are willing to accept other peoples faults and go on....life is too short not to enjoy all the blessings you are given.....

I am making lavender sachets, some Denise's lotion and hopefully some sewing projects. I just ordered myself a sewing machine and I am taking a some classes over the next 3 months where we'll make fun little things like wallets, key fobs, a purse, a twirl skirt for little girls and an applique t-shirt. If all goes well with my classes I will then make extras for Christmas presents.

I stood in line for 40 minutes at Hobby Lobby on a tax free shopping weekend, for Christmas fabric to be cut.

I wanted it bad.

So, what are you making with that fabric Patrice, placemats, napkins??
We have a great store here in St. Louis, Jackman's Fabrics. They carry the really nice cotton fabrics, like the ones you see in Quilting Keepsakes catalog. Well, they were having a little sale.....so, I picked up fabric for a magic pillow case and enough fabric for 2 table runners....one Halloween and one Fall.

But, I still have to finish the pine tree table runner I started last year first!

Michelle,
Do you do alot of embelishing on them? Do you just leave the pages plain, for journaling, or do you use dividers of some sort? How come you haven't posted any in your gallery?

Hugs!

Hey Cindy,

Well, all that I did with the fabric this evening is make a mess. I mean the pattern is simple, but getting bias tape to lay smoothly around four layers of fabric is not my greatest talent. I am making cute holidayn potholders. All I have to show for a couple of hours is a misshapen ripped apart mess.

ARRRGHGH!!!! I don't have time for this.

Will go by my quilting shop, just a block from this ER on the way to work tomorrow. They always can find a solution to any sewing dilemma.
The holiday clock is ticking.

If we lived closer, I would be glad to help you sort out "your mess"! I am so sorry you are feeling frustrated, hopefully you can get good direction!

I am in the stages of finishing up 8 Altered Notebooks that will be Christmas Memories Notebooks. Then I can get altering those Frapp Bottles and finishing up those jars of Denise's Lotion. Once those are finished, I can get to the sewing! Still have about 20 Christmas cards to make too!

It's 4 Months from yesterday folks!!

Not only have I been making Christmas Presents. I've been making gifts for our RV Rally that we are going to in Sept. We always have a Auction for our goods that we bring.

This year I've made on Purse filled with Greeting cards, Mini box filled with 3x3 cards and envelopes, and the next project I will be working on is. a box filled with Wine Related items, and cards.

I'll post my idea later on this week.
When I should have them all done.

So it's a three piece set, and I'll find some inexpensive baskets and put it all in the baskets.

Then for some of my cousins, I found a kit on Gina Jan's D.A.I.S.I.E. Company that is for shop-a-holics -they LOVE to shop, so I am going to make up that kit with a gift card to their favorite shopping store. It was put together by Sandy Osborn and she did an AWESOME job!

For some other people I am making just the Snowman Soup in the carriers - quick gifts to hand out.

For some of the guys I am designing a Football Party in a Can, it will be printable with some embellishments added after printing, another guy will be getting an Outdoor Survival Kit in a Can that I am going to design - again, a printable wrapper and embellies added after that.

It's going to be fun!
So where do you find the paint cans? I love these ideas!

Cool

I am going to check at Sherwin Williams for empty paint cans.

And I noticed 4 oz jars with the canning stuff at WallyWorld, just perfect for the lotion recipe.

Back to ripping off bias tape.

I have seen empty paint cans at Lowes and Home Depot. And Patrice may be correct that the paint stores might have them as well.

I have another idea for my step-sister and a few friends - QUILLOWS. I have one and I love it. I think I am going to make theirs out of fleece since it needs little sewing compared to the quilted ones. I have a love hate relationship with my sewing machine.
Also this week J's has fleece on sale for 50% off plus an add'l 10% off on Labor Day.

I think I may make a "winter survival basket" and put in the quillow, some of the handmade lotion and hot cocoa.

I better get started soon since this is a tall order for this procrastinator!

Also this week J's has fleece on sale for 50% off plus an add'l 10% off on Labor Day.

I think I may make a "winter survival basket" and put in the quillow, some of the handmade lotion and hot cocoa.

I better get started soon since this is a tall order for this procrastinator!
Do you have directions and a picture of the quillow?

Is this the pattern where you fold the blanket up and tuck it in and it forms a pillow? I think I have that pattern somewhere now if I can only remember where!

http://www.sewvac1.com/Library/fleecequillow.htm

Here is a link for directions to a fleece quillow.

I have one that is quilted and my DD has one that is made of fleece. Her quillow also has a drawstring top and straps to turn it into a backpack. She can stuff her jammies and teddybear into it when she goes to a sleepover. I will not get so involved with the drawstrings and straps (my sister and friends are in ther 30's-40's) and beyond the sleepover stage..

I love my quillow. I guess since I am making mine out of fleece I'll call it a Flillow.

Hmmm...I think an adult girl sleep-over would be rather fun myself!! No kid, husband, pets,etc... for the night, some chick flicks, munchies, sounds pretty good to me!!

Wink

Tuesday afternoon bump. I have gotten seven holly leaves sewn together.

It's a miracle.
