I'm not sure how to package them yet, but I have a bunch of rectangular metal tins with hinged lids that I think I will use.
Have you considered using an 6x6 page protector like Andrea Walford did here? I have not tried doing this yet but, it does look neat!!

I am going to make some S'mores kit like Gina K had on her blog. I bought some heavy duty transparencies for the box, and will make the top/bottom parts out of her Navy Pure Luxury cardstock or the Chocolate Kiss. I'm excited! I'm also making Chocolate Craving Kits using a digi-kit I bought on D.A.I.S.I.E. Company. It's adorable, and so easy to print and make stuff!

I made some of these for a craft fair last year and they were big sellers! Need to put these back on my list for the Open House this year...

My other "non-crafty" friends get on my case about all the time I spend on the packaging when it will just get torn up, thrown away etc.......but I think that is what sells the items most of the time! Non-crafty people just don't understand! {sigh}

You can color in on the coasters with sharpies. I did this one year (did not apply any sealer) and they still look great.

Since DH may get layed off this winter, I have decided home-made gifts are the way to go.
I am making
Card sets
Trivits
Recipe boxes/cards

Oh my goodness, I hope not! My DH got laid off earlier this year and we were almost sick with worry. But a few months ago, he called a friend and the friend was able to get him a position that will go through Sept. After that we may be in the same boat again.

I did not work last year and so made all my gifts too! I have some ideas in my gallery. Did not make recipe boxes or Trivits though. Good thoughts!!

Best to you!!!

I just made this last night -- I think it would be cute for the kids -- small enough to hold some candy or little trinkets, best thing -- it's SUPER cheap. Only the image would have to be purchased, the template is free!

Is it July already? lol

Weelll, I am thinking about getting started. My husband's job is shaky right now, he is in the oil refinery business, and it is slow right now. So I better get moving on these gifts items, cause that's all some of these family members are going to get.

I hate the shape of this economy.

I hear you! DH might loose the job he currently has, if that is so, we will be cutting back the gift giving and I will be making gifts again too!

Oh I hear ya'! My dh is self-employed and we've been on the verge of losing it all for eight years. I do Christmas early out of necessity, squirreling away gifts when I can! That being said, I haven't actually made anything yet. However, since I am the fearless leader of a really lovely stamp club this year, I have been making plans for our three months of Christmas gift and card classes, AND my kids' school is having (read: I am planning!) a Holiday Fair and Gift Sale in conjunction with our book fair... I really have to get moving! I'll be setting up a special album in my gallery for Craft Sale and Christmas gift items soon... right when I get some done! Any of you have albums you'd care to link in?

I don't know if I am thankful for that link or not, I just ordered the stamp set so I can make lip gloss now. Of course, I added a few more things in my cart as well. Darn the people who thought of shopping at home by internet, it is so easy!

I agree! Sometimes I adore the packaging soooo much when done by a crafter, I hate to open the package!! I try to save some of the pretty efforts taken to make the package pretty! If just to admire again!

I really liked your idea of the jar and journal. I'm seriously considering doing it for my sister and mom, although I wonder how often I have to remind them to do their journaling.

This is a very special gift

itís just from me.
Whenever you are lonely

You can never unwrap it,

I went to Big Lots yesterday, just to look around, you never know what you can find. I came upon 8x8 baking dishes, in a light shade of green. Perfect to bake a half recipe of bars, brownies, or a layered holiday salad. Wrap with cellophane, ribbon, and a pretty tag. They were only $3.00 a piece, and I had a 20% off coupon for entire purchase.

It's a start.

The have a few single friends, so the 8x8 size is good for them. The holidays can overload some people, if it is just themselves to consume.

Just popping by to say HELLO to everyone... HELLLOOOOOO! LOL

HEY - Denise - did ya ever get my PM from months ago (think it was months ago!)...

Denise's lotion (potion/commotion, LOL) has been such a big hit on my end with friends, family & now even some MEN from some local stores & business that...well, it's a long story as to how they got to try it, LOL. THEY (the men) really love the cucumber scent, which I still think is a hoot. Personally I use it daily - so YEAH & THANK YOU DENISE for your recipe!!!....

It's nice to see a new thread up and going with ideas for this year. Everyone is sooooo far ahead of me this round, my goodness!!!!! I feel like I need some BIG TIME MOJO energy sent my way!! Anyone with ideas on how to get back that MOJO?? I absolutely need some help, that's for sure. That and it seems like 48 hour days, vs. 24 hour ones, just to get everything done that I have on my normal daily list - let alone my *I hope to get to* holiday one. : )

Hope everyone is doing well - and HAPPY MONDAY TO ALL!

~smiles & hugs to all the lovely, creative folks posting & working away here!~

AH...yes, that darn back surgery. That was last November, and well...hmmm, let's just say, that it was an adventure of sorts, and life has continued to be a wild ride ever since then. I've barely had any personal time since I was back up and moving, and sadly my back still gives me grief. Although, shoot..I'm just happy to be able to take time here and there to read through threads like this one, and think about something else OTHER than all the other stuff that's going on in my personal world, and the world around me.

Thankfully, being a SU! demo has helped keep me sane, and cheerfully distracted from all the other "ew" stuff. Crafting, reading, cooking, gardening, well, those are all my favorite things to do to help feel a bit more centered, and forget about the daily grind - whenever I have the time to. I've not had as much time as usual, and certainly not even close to what I would like, and as I type, I believe NEED right about now, but life does go on now, doesn't it???

It's nice to see some new faces (names), and some of those from before, here on the thread. I hope we can get some of the other folks who were on board the previous two threads to jump on over here! Gosh, I thought that there sure were a bunch of fantastic ideas, recipes, etc., being shared on those as well. I know I made several items from those threads, and not a single person didn't appreciate, or dislike a single gift or food item! YEAH!! So, maybe some more faces might pop up, do ya think, perhaps as we move a bit closer towards fall?? I am GREEN with envy, for those of you who've already made a bunch of your cards, and gifts! GASP - I AM SO VERY FAR BEHIND THIS YEAR - Helppppppppppppp (Calgon, take me away.....)

For those wondering, BTW, I did work very hard at recreating my file/doc, (if anyone recalls that) by inserting actual photos that were posted (when granted permission to do so), active website links, etc., only to have my computer go KABOOM, (well more like sigh, then CRASH on me), AND of course, just as I was almost finished!!! Sadly, I had not backed up the darn computer during that entire week, so everything was lost. I was not very happy when that occurred, that's for sure!! Might consider giving it another go again this next month, since I've got a new laptop with all the bells and whistles on it...?? Maybe? LOL BTW - I think I'm talking to myself now, LOL!!! However, quite seriously, I worked for HOURS (OK DAYS), on that thing, and it put me literally into tears when it all went POOF. I don't know which I was more upset about, losing a laptop RIGHT before the holidays - which I could not afford right then to replace, or losing that document! I'm going to say the document...since it still bothers me to this day. Course, now I make SURE to back up my computer almost daily.

I sure hope that everyone is doing well here. I know that life has taken many different turns for lots of folks over the past year, and I truly hope all of you are doing well enough, despite these challenging, and ever quickly changing times....

Well, off I dash back to do MORE work-work...but I will check in later to see what's NEW on the thread!!! : )

Have a great evening everyone ~ Barbara

So many wonderful ideas here. Thanks for the input everyone. I haven't read all the pages and pages of messages yet (working my way thru them with my morning coffee every day!), but 2 things I plan to make are a bunch of Christmas tree ornaments for my son and DIL who were married in Jan. so this will be their first married Christmas together. That way I can add a few more every year. I also want to make some bird mobiles using the Spellbinders 3-nested-birds set, (there's a cute one on this site:
http://stampaction.typepad.com/stamp...wers-dies.html (scroll down the page)
and will make Christmas decorations using the same die cut and Christmas BG paper/giftwrap scraps/stamped cardstock. I'm not sure if the die cut works on shrink plastic (anyone know?), but if it does then those little birds would make cute stamped keyrings. Sets of cards are also usually well received of course.
Keep the ideas coming ...!

Red face

I want this front and center until Christmas eve,

then we can collapse in a chair,
and start worrying about Valentine's Day 2010, lol
