Default Inking images ?

I have a few different colored ink pads but never use them. I find myself using black most of the time.

What color/s do you use? I don't waste money buying several colors to ink the image with. What do you do with the colored (other than black) ink for?

Thanks

I've been known to stamp with any color but usually I use black and brown for stamping sentiments and images. I use a lot of other inks for coloring images with blender pen and aquapainter. I also use the other colors for distressing too.

I like to create my own backgrounds and use many different colors. It's a very nice effect to stamp background layers with images in the same color ink as the paper. It creates a subtle design that doesn't distract from your main image. It's an easy way to create more depth and interest for your card.

I use colored ink for techniques, but I also use dark shades of all the colors (except yellow) to stamp my main image. I also stamp sentiments in the dark shades, but I know I use the lighter shades for stamping too. Right now, the "for what" is escaping my brain. But I know I am always putting away my lighter colored ink pads, so I must be using them.

I use them all for solid images like flowers that won't be colored in. Also use them for many techniques as others have said.

I used to only use black or brown but now I have so many cool solid image stamps that I'm using more and more colored inks. I guess it really depends on what images you're using, if you do alot of florals or trees, you'd want more greens, yellows, blues, etc. it all depends on your images.
I really like solid stamps now especially for quicker cards when you don't have time for alot of coloring in.

I really, really like using a color of ink on its same color cardstock. When I got the POP last month, I also purchased the CS for Rose Red, Celery, Saffron and Amethyst and the ink pads to be able to coordinate. I've made two gift sets with it and am planning on making more with the scraps. But the tone-on-tone effect is more subtle than using black or brown, but not quite as subtle as using VersaMark, I think.

I also used Real Red ink on Barely Banana paper for this week's color challenge on this card, and I think it made a nicer combo than it would have with black ink.

I'm guessing since you use black the most you probably have a lot of line images. You might want to think about buying stampin spots from SU and then buying the full pad of the colors you find yourself using the most often.

I use celery, chocolate chip, Regal Rose and Old Olive like mad.

I was going to get the spots for the same reason. I usually find myself using black, brown or even the versamark to stamp my images. I have seen so many pretty cards that use the different inks I have thought if I had the spots I might use color more often.

Another way to expand your use of colored ink is to use some of SU's Two-step stampin sets! They let you put color on color and really make a fantastic image without coloring!!!

Like...
this journal with Mixed Bouquet
and this card with Roses in Winter

Those sets are retiring but I'll bet there are going to be lots of cool new ones in the new catalog!!!
