I found out the hard way tonight that Kai scissors not only work for trimming rubber, but they can do a number on your fingers too! I can't believe that when I was cutting foam tape off the roll I didn't pay attention to where the end of the (open) scissors was aimed at and when I cut off the foam I also cut right into my finger. Its nothing serious...but the cut is a perfect "v" shape. And how pathetic is this?--I was in the middle of a creative flow when this happened and when I was bandaging myself up all I could think about was getting back down to my stamping area in the basement and finishing what I had started.
I'm sure there's other stories out there about the "dangers" of stamping--
hair caught in the crimper? injuring yourself falling over all the stuff in your stamp area? glitter overload? Let's hear some more stories!
All of the above! The floor of my room constitutes an obstacle course of the highest order - I trip and fall all the time! The scissors thing? Been there, done that, had me wondering if blood stains could be considered an embellishment! I've had my heat tool pointed the wrong way on more than one occasion. DH complains about my "glittery effect" all the time! My worst though is the continual worsening of the carpal tunnel in my right hand. Though it hurts to stamp, I do somehow manage to work through the pain!
I wonder who else has "on the job" injuries? Is there Worker's Comp for us?

NavyWifeArmyMom Come Visit Me At ... A Work In Progress
My new staqmps sets (4 background and 6 others) have been sitting on my kitchen counter since Monday. Finally got around to mounting them all tonight and my Kai scissors have given me a blister - not sure whether this counts or not ;-)
Those Kai scissors can be mean! The first few times I was using them, I cut right into that piece of skin between your thumb and index finger...ouch! But , man, they cut rubber like butter...so I was off to finishing after a band aid! No other injuries reported here, except that stamping helps me burn dinner...lol.
i've learned to put bandaids on my hands when mounting more than 2 sets of stamps (or if i mount an alpha set). i got horrendous blisters once after mounting 9 in one day. i'm one of those weirdos that can't handle unmouted ubber. also be very careful of brass stencils. sometimes the designs are very sharp. i have got a couple of small nicks and one good sized puncture from those. and never drop you embossing tool on the top of your bare foot.
Be careful when cleaning those wonderful rubber cutting scissors ~ I have cut myself cleaning them more times than I care to count! But they are the best.

200 Xmas cards for my husbands business, did them in one night..couldn't move my right hand the whole next day, hurt up to the crook in my arm! It completely cramped up from the pressure of stamping a large stamp and several small ones (for the background). My pointer finger was red and very sensitive from creasing the cards without a bone folder (I don't do that anymore).

ha my most recent exploit was similar to yours denier468 except for it wasn't my foot. I was all excited casing the reverse Jacobs coat with the mini messages when I burned my hand. I placed the tool backwards and since mine has one of the metal bits that stick out. Needless to say I jerked back quickly but it still stung for the rest of the day. I'm sure there have been numerous other times and I've managed to papercut myself pretty well a few times but thankfully nothing too serious has ever happened.
I tore into my SU! box so quickly one time that I got a huge paper cut from the cardboard box. I open them more carefully now. I also found out that I can't do a lot of heat embossing at a time without a painter's mask. I had trouble breathing after I had done some layered embossing and just thought it was a coincidence. The next time I did it, I realized that I must be super sensitive to the powders and now have to wear a mask if I'm embossing very much.

So very blessed and so very thankful.
God is good.
I have a rolling chair that I use to roll around to get things and bend under the tabel to get things too. Well the bending has caused me to tip the whole chair and fall on my wrist. But I still kept going and told my DH that chair is dangerous.

Does this mean your lungs would show up all pretty and glittery on an X-ray?
Just let me say that at my group's stamp camps we refer to the Paper Piercer as "the pointy stick of death". Nuff said.
I've never had any mishaps with the Kai scissors, but the paper snips...We thought we were going to have to take one newbie to get stitches--she cut herself THAT bad!

No cuts, but every time I go to my upline's house to stamp I always have bruises on my thighs because her dining room table leaf doesn't have skirts, I always manage to hit the corner edge of the skirt on the underside, one thigh when I sit down, the other thigh when I stand up.. ALWAYS have matching bruises.. and they're about the size of a silver dollar...
If I stamp more than an hour I get wicked shoulder and elbow aches..
Where to begin??? I have dumped my rolling chair, blister on my right middle finger from mounting 20 something sets in one sitting, blown embossing powder in my eyes, tripped on sets on the floor when I am mass stamping, elbow pain from doing a marathon sizzix session. Family joke at my house? Avalanche!!! Thats when a pile of stuff slowly slides to the floor...roflrofl
Great thread!
Several times I have absentmindedly raised the bar on my Fiskars cutter by grabbing right where the cutting blade is and made a nice razor cut on my finger. Unfortunately, this has been more than once.
FYI - the cutting blade on the CM decorative cutter is also waayyy sharp, although the curve of the 1/4" deep scar it leaves across two of your fingers is indeed quite decorative.
As are the bandaids you need to wear for the next week.
Also, heat guns and fake fingernails? These do not play nice with each other. Not painful, but not exactly fragrant, either.
callouses on my middle finger from cutting sets. Also impaled myself with a paper popper, not fun! Telling on myself, I was hunched over the cardstock using Versamark and popped myself in the face with my hand and the stamp when I pulled it up.lol Nobody told me stampin would be hazerdous to my health!!

My most serious stamping related injury happened while making a large number of cards for a client. I use double sticky tape because snail just does not stick at all. I used so many pieces of tape that it took a hunk of skin out of my thumb! I had to stop making cards for almost 2 days. I tried using a bandaid but could not manage the bows. I tried using latex gloves but the tape stuck to them. I tried using first aid tape but that didn't work either. I just had to rest and give my thumb time to regrow the skin!
Oh gosh I have so many stories that I could write a book. I did manage to nick myself with those Kai scissors while putting together my stamps. No bleeding or anything just a poke.
This happened when I first started stamping and didn't have a table. I had a wood board on my leg and was heat embossing my cards and well you guessed it the board moved and I heat embossed my leg. OUCH!
My worst was when I was hot gluing melting pot embellishment and then the hot glue bled through and onto my hands, and ooooh my gosh I was screaming in so much pain and got my hand in cold water but I had third degree burns. LOL and ya know I was such a dedicated stamper that I wrapped my hand and kept stamping.
What else? I nicked myself with that hobby blade.
LOL The craziness that I go through just to stamp.

I've injured myself more than a few times, but the absolute worst thing was several years ago. My son was little, like 6 or 7. I told him REPEATEDLY about not touching the embossing tool (Milwaukee heat gun) cuz it was HOT. True to form (he's a boy and my son) he had to see for himself. Turned my back for a couple of seconds and he reached out to touch the barrel with two fingers. INSTANT big blisters. He cried for over an hour non-stop. God, talk about GUILT!
"Hi to my fellow injured stampers or those who gave me encouragement these past two months! Remember, I'm the one who actually fell into my stamping room! Right off the ladder with two bags of ribbon in my hands"
This above quote is from the Chit Chat Thread--just thought I'd put a portion of it here to warn the newbies who may have started stamping by thinking it was a gentle, harmless hobby!
