Have a craft area is key. I don't really have one. That could be part of the problem in making time to make cards. It's been my dilemma for a long time. I always had to find what I wanted and drag it to the kitchen table that also serves as my office, and then put it all back when I finished -- or at least before the next meal. I felt like I needed a block of hours or a day to make cards. Recently I set up a card table in one corner of the room that my daughter just moved out of, though it still has a lot of her stuff. Now I at least have a set place to work, and it's easier to grab a few things and whip out a card as needed between my marathon sessions.

I hear you, I lost my craft room when my twins were born and I had everything cramed under besds, in closets, everywhere then I just decided to takeover a corner (OK a quarter) of the basement, it is not finished but it works for me, it is a bit chilly in the winter but it is a place to work, whick I do every day, maybe that is an idea for you? OR pack up your daughter's stuff and move it to the basemrnt or garage and turn the room into a studio since she had moved out

For myself, I didn't even begin to stamp till I had a "space!" It wasn't/isn't much of one either! Mine started in the foyer of our home! I know that sounds ODD but it's open & I can see or be apart of the greatroom, so I didn't feel cut off. And people don't even come to the front door, but to the back door---Anyway, I have since moved my area to a corner in the bedroom. That's where I do my "work." Some things are put elsewhere, in other rooms & I have to go & find things. BUT, I do have a place that is designated my "work area!" Without that, there would be NO cards from me! So, it ISN'T that you need EVERYTHING put in one area, but just a WORK TOP SPACE that is designated just for you! Someplace where you can leave your work if you need to to come back to!

I just wanted to say ditto to your remark about wanting to use what I already have and yet find myself seeing something else I just have to have and then end up putting it away and not using it. This is really stupid on my part because Iwork full time and have very little time to make cards. I feel like I have a disease when it comes to wanting neat things to use for cards. I sure need to do better.

I know what you mean about it seeming like a disease and wanting to do better. If it helps, here's a hug to say "you're not alone!"

Donna I wonder how many people are doing the same thing you are doing?

They continue to buy things for card making or scrap books , but have very little time or have lost interest in making cards or scrapbook pages.
Maybe we should have a poll

Yes, we would probably be surprised. I just love making the cards(when I don't make mistakes). Sometimes I will have the card almost finished and find a spot of ink on the front. Sometimes it can't be fixed. I liked your Tom Edison saying. It sure takes determination and patience.

I haven't been on Splitcoast for a while and I see this thread is kind of dated. Has it been moved to a new spot and if so, what is the current link?
