I Tell people to get clear I tell them that because you can use it with all of the colors with the versa mark also you can use a sponge and reverse emboss also.
My first choice would also be clear for versatility, but I have a jar of silver pearl that is my absolute favorite color. It makes all bright colors soft and muted and if you could just have clear and silver pearl with a versamark pad and classic ink, you'd have twice as many colors. Cool stuff!
I love Hologram Highlights!!!! Gives a soft pretty sparkle over any color plus looks wonderful over black on outline stamps where you plan to color in. I use mine so much that I keep it out in a little salt cellar on the shelf above my stamp table.
I use the Silver Detail the most (love it on dark CS). My next choice would be black. I don't care for how the versamark/classic ink embossing looks...not as bright as the Classic ink by itself. I don't have any craft pads, so clear is not a 'color' I use.
Black detail is good if you have an image you want to color in (especially for Twinkling H2Os) because you don't lose your outline.
Wynona - you haven't embossed yet??? You are in for a treat!! It is so much fun and really gives an impressive look to your cards because your image is "raised" off the page. Go get yourself an embossing gun then stamp your image with versamark followed by one of SU! classic colors or one of their great colored EPs. You need to put the EP on right away and then turn the card over a scrap piece of typing paper so that you can "funnel" it back into your jar (one jar lasts forever!). Then you heat the image and watch it turn color and "bead up". You will want to run the heat gun back and forth slowly so that you do not burn or scortch (sp?) your paper. Try this on scratch paper the first couple of times. That is all there is to it. The effect is incredible. Be sure to let it cool off for a minute before you touch it. Now you are ready to color. The raised image allows you to watercolor without worrying about coloring outside the lines because it stops the color. Does this make sense? If not pm me and I'll try to help you more. Good luck and definitely call your demo and get that gun!!

I like clear because you can do so much with it. Ire Ice is cool, but you can make your own with clear ep and dazzling diamonds if you could only have one color ep.
Clear for sure. You can do so much with it. Anything you stamp with craft ink, you can immediately emboss and the color comes right through. Great for verse & word stamps.

I recently fell in love with Vintage Verdigris -- I know it doesn't go with everything but it is just so cool looking! If you search the gallery under "Verdigris" a lot of great samples will pop up including a few of mine! I have to thank Stampersharon for her inspiration, I have cased her beautiful work several times!
