Default I want to be a SU demo!

Hi! I really want to be a SU demo. I want to get the best deal buying into it, though. I see that no one anticipates another special for a while, but would like info on when it can be expected.

Also, I'd prefer not to waste a nice person's time not buying their line but signing up as a demo myself. Does that make sense? Is it possible to sign up under someone here who wouldn't have to drive over and go through the riggermoral only to get nothing but a demo sign up? I hope that makes sense.

OK. Those are my questions. Any direction would be really appreciated!! Steph

go to www.bestofboards.com. There are lots of other SU! demos there and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help you out with any questions. HTH!

Sale-A-Bration goes from February 1st to March 15th this year I believe. In the 3 years I have been a demo they have always had a special where when you sign up you get to pick any 1 stamp set from the catalogue (any price) for free.

Can't guarantee that it will be the same this year, but I would think it will be.

Other than that, we don't know of any upcoming signing specials. We generally don't hear about those until they are starting.

You cannot sign up under SU yourself, you HAVE to sign up underneath someone.

It can be anyone you want who is a SU demo in the US, since you live in the US. You can't have an upline that's not in your country. So I'm Canadian, you can't sign up under me. Make sense?

It's up to you what you want from an upline. Do you want someone close by who can train you (show you different techniques, help out at workshops) or would you rather have a long-distance demo that you can email for help?

If you just want to become a demo for the discount and don't plan on doing workshops, a long-distance upline might be best for you.

You can PM anyone you see who has that they are an SU demo in their siggy and see if they are a fit for you.

Some people offer their own sign-up bonuses, but I'm pretty sure it's against TOS to post those in this thread. That would be considered phishing.

Best of luck to you, I hope you are able to find what you are looking for upline wise!

You don't have to buy from another demo to sign up. However there is a big advantage to having a local demo. Some uplines have meetings and get togethers for their downlines. She would be someone that you could possibly attend a few workshops with to observe how she does them. I would strongly consider getting a local demo that is running a successful SU business as your upline!!

I think there are over 2,000 on SCS, too. Hope you get all your questions answered.

Also, I think it is against TOS for demos to pm you about their sign-up specials even though you asked in this thread. You have to contact them. Does that make sense???

Feel free to pm me with any questions as well. I am a retired career demo and can answer any and all questions from either point of view.

We never really know when the next sign up promotion is, but it's generally a safe bet to say there will be something during SAB, as others have indicated.

Sounds like you want to be pretty independent. Just about any demo would welcome that, I imagine. Whatever you do, whomever you sign up with, I would just state that up front that you don't want to meet, you don't want any "push" . You may also indicate whether or not you want to receive any e-mails. For instance, I send a group e-mail once or twice a month. If you didn't even want to receive something like that, you should make that known so that you don't get put on the list.

However, you should also ask what the upline does for her demos who do want contact...just in case you change your mind. I am sure you don't think you will change your mind, but it does happen from time to time. So I don't think you should sign up with someone who will do nothing for you because she does nothing for anyone. You should sign up with someone who will do nothing for you because that's what you want.

I love my downline, but I was pretty independent of my upline. I'd rather do things on my own. That's just how some people are wired. Nothing wrong with that. I think it's good that you are thinking about what you do and don't want before getting into it!

Best wishes to you!

Just wanted to put this out there. I am not a demo, but in the same boat so was giving her my two cents privately.

I have a couple of gals who want to sign up but are holding out for Saleabration. Typically (the last 3 or 4 years that I have been a demo at least) there is a special during this time. Saleabration this year is from Feb 1st until March 15th. But, with that in mind, there is NEVER a bad time to sign up as a demo. If you went ahead and signed up sooner rather than waiting, you could be demoing during saleabration which would help you earn back your kit cost and help you on your way to earning tons of free stamps through the Stampin' Start program.

Personally, to find a demo, I would look around for people on SCS with their demo business website in their signatures.... ;)

Discount is 20%. I *think* the US kit is just under $200.

You're welcome!

If you want more info PM any one of the ladies who have a SU demo link in their siggy. They'll fill you in on all the US stuff!

I'm in Canada, so I'm not sure of their minimums and stuff. ;)

I personally would sign up under someone local anyway - someone who had a really good downline thing going. Mine has monthly meetings where we make tons of stuff, and it's a highlight of my demoship and the main reason I can't give it up.

I would like to encourage you to locate a demo near you to sign up under. You can go to the stampinup.com site and use the demo locator. I would then "interview" several to see which personality and goals mesh with yours. There are many benefits to having a close upline and a good working relationship with her.
I speak from the "lack thereof". My upline moved to another state soon after I signed up so I have been learning on my own with a BIG help from SCS!

Just don't forget you have to sell $300.00 worth of merchandise every quarter or you are disqualified as a demo. My upline didn't tell me this very important fact so I was clueless.

Like others stated - it is best if you find a local demo who you feel comfortable with - or even if it is not a local demo someone who you feel comfortable with...

For ANYONE who is considering becoming a demo for any company - you should always sit down with a demo and aks all the particulars...a good demo will lay everything out on the line for you so that you have ALL the information and can make an informed decision as to weather or not it is the right thing for you to do.

I know some people may be turned off because there are some "strong" people out there who are more interested in just having people sign up rather than making sure they have all the information and are making an informed decision.

The last person I signed up I spent about an hour and a half with her walking her through all aspects of being a demo - requirements, policies, etc...

Also if it is something you are interested in (doesn't matter the company) and want to know exactly HOW a company works - ask to see their demo/consultant manual before signing up...that spells out everything little thing you would need to know as far as requirements and policies...any demo/consultant that won't let you see it - find another demo/consultant...
