:( I have to get something off my chest. I hope no-one minds. I have been doing swaps and trades since joining this site in April of this year. I haven't had any problems until recently.
I'm not going to use names but, I did a swap with someone. They contacted me and said they never received the set. I didn't get conformation because I've never had any problems before. I know this is my fault and eventually it will bite you. Well anyways I didn't have a duplicate so I returned the item they swapped me. I sent it to the same address as before and they received it in 4 days. I don't like to think people are dishonest but, I find it hard to believe that I used the same address both times and only the one that I "returned" made it there.
Thanks for allowing me to vent...............I will just be more careful because I know you can't judge all by one.
Thanks and have a great day.
Kelley
Sorry to hear about this mishap. I hope it won't happen again because I know it's frustrating to you as a hostess. It can go both ways, though, as I've heard of swaps not being returned or not being returned with the correct amount of cards, etc. It's just one of those things that can happen on both sides since we are all human. No one is perfect and I'd like to think that people are honest as well and are not hosting swaps to keep cards or swapping then requesting two sets back..know what I mean? Anyway, don't let this keep you from hosting or participating in others as I think most on here play by the books. Keep up the good work and don't let this get you down. Happy swapping!
I am sorry this has happened to you. If you use Delivery Confirmation at the Post Office you can always track your package and then you will know for sure that it gets where you sent it. It costs 55 cents and is worth the extra few pennies. Especially if you've been "taken".

I feel bad for you. I made a set trade with someone at the end of May. She let me know the first week of June that she got my stamp set , however she hadn't been feeling well and had not sent the one she was trading out. I still have not received the set and when I go into her profile she hasn't been on SCS since that first week of June. I have emailed and written a letter but I have heard nothing. It was fairly pricey sets we were trading as well. I guess I have just written it off as a bad lesson.
Please know though, that even though you had a bad experience there are so many wonderful people to trade with, sell to, buy from and do card swaps with on this site and they far more than outweight the bad experiences.

Unfortunately things to get lost in the mail on occassion :( I sent two packages to may parents on the same day, each from a different PO. One made it, one never did. Although I can understand your frustration I think you have to give them the benefit of the doubt in this case.

Yes, this actually happens more than you know. Now that I have my mail order business, I can say it happens more than I would have expected. I had a smaller envelope that must have gotten caught in a bin/mailbag, because it didn't show any tracking info until nearly 3 weeks later. I watched a package with CA postage get routed improperly to a South Carolina PO and then eventually back to the customer and I've watched two of my packages actually be lost within one of the IL postoffices. They would get scanned once a day but stayed in the PO 6 days! I would say the benefit of doubt could certainly be given. I'm sorry it was one of your packages/hard work that got lost/destroyed in the processing.
I read on another board a while back that a lady's swap was finally received..a year later! Some mix up with the post office.
And they thought she was a dead beat swapper! Poor lady, I felt really bad for her. Maybe in a year yours will show up too! But I'd take Samantha's advice and pay the extra .55 next time.
Unfortunately even getting Delivery Conf. isn't worth much. My son got ripped off by a guy who swore up and down he hadn't received the package, even though the delivery confirmation showed it had been delivered to the correct address. There's nothing to prove that HE got it. The guy at the post office said there really was no recourse; next time, he said, get a signature. Sad....
The post office works in mysterious ways............
I was sending a check to one of my demos for a stamp camp, and when I was at the post office mailing that and a ton of other stuff, I accidently grabbed the card without any money in it and it wasn't sealed either, and stuck it in the mail slot. I went back to the same post office the very next day and mailed out another card - this time with the money in it, and she received the 1st card I mailed out 2 says later ,and still hasn't receive the card with the check in it, and it was mailed the very next day. Its been over a week now.
I joined in a card swap a couple of years ago, and I never got my cards. I did not keep the hostess e-mail, so a couple of ladies helped me contact her, and she said the swap had been mailed, but made things right and sent me cards. Would you believe after a couple of months, a priority mail envelope showed up at my home one day with the actual swap cards- it was mangled, but the cards were in good shape. I deturned the replacement cards to the hostess, and I have to say I have not had a problem since- but I think I will start getting delivery confirmation from now on!!! Thanks for the advice!
If you send your items priority and do it on line with usps.com (The us post office site) you can get delivery confirmation for free. You can print the label with or without postage.

Ummm, the US Postal Service site is www.USPS.com -- UPS.com is for the folks with the big brown trucks. One little letter, but it makes a BIG difference! ;)
