Last night I went to my craft room to make cards. I had some new stamps I wanted to try out. I stamped a couple and decided that wasn't want I wanted to use.
Then I went to the cabinet and looked at the stamps and none of them looked good that I wanted to use.
Then I went and pulled out my sentiment stamps, didn't want to use any of them either.
So then I looked at the flowers, 3-D stickers/embellishments and none of them grabbed my interest or suited my mood.
Finally I gave up, went into the laundry room, turned on the tv and started ironing!:p
I hate it when I start to make cards and can't figure out what I want to use.
Oh can I relate!! Last week I was pumping out the cards, full of creativity...this week everything I tried had been yuck....till this morning when I was just putzing around trying out my newest stamp set...finally success! But you should see the mess my frustration left in this scrap room...serious tornadic activity...hahaha
LOL... I'm with Lydia... resorting to ironing was probably a sign of an illness or something! I get in ruts sometimes too, where nothing appeals to me. It's why I could never do commission type work - I can't force myself to make something if I'm not in the mood. I stamp for fun, if it's not fun I don't stamp. It's never not fun enough that ironing sounds better though... I can't tell you the last time I ironed anything that wasn't craft related!
I hope you break free of the Goldilocks mood soon!
I couldn't do commission or design team work either! Would hurt my brain and make me a cranky mess. I have the utmost admiration for the creative minds who can.
I think we've all had those moods (except for the ironing part, ha!). I'm fortunate to be a multi-tasker with my hobbies. When I'm not in the mood to make a card, I can crochet, or sew.
Here is a pic of some matching dresses I recently made for my 2 month old, and 2 years old granddaughters, Clementine and Dorothy:

Ruthie, your ironing story reminds me of the Janet Evanovich books. Whenever Stephanie Plum's mother gets upset, she irons.
That is what my daughters says about me. I use to even iron her play-clothes when she was little. Then when she got older I ironed her jeans (when I was upset or fed up) that she made me stop once she became a teenager. Heck, I was lucky if she wore jeans that didn't smell, when she was a teenager, must less iron!!:p

Oh that is TERRIBLE!! You poor thing!! I have never resorted to ironing. I'm not sure where it is to start with, but I am a big believer in restarting the dryer. ;) time to play in a challenge or just CASE some lovely from the gallery. That ought to get things rolling.
Sounds like my day today Ruthie ! I called out from work and thought to myself that I would try to relax today and sit and do cards. I took everything out and thought I was ready to get to get some stuff done. Instead I looked over alll my embellishments, stamped images and went through all my paper. After going through it all I put it away and layed on the couch and watch tv..lol There was no way I was going to reach for the iron...lol
Pfft. I was in that kind of mood today at work and I have a ton of stuff I need to get done. I couldn't focus and couldn't prioritize, despite having a detailed to-do list and project tracking. I ended up clearing out some low-priority stuff, but I didn't really accomplish much of any importance. It's kinda like ironing instead of stamping. Sigh.

I think that's why I can't only do cards. I get stumped all the time, but if I have a mini album or some scrapbooking to do it draws me back into inspiration. I resort to surfing for inspiration before I will iron. lol I also shop too when I can't find inspiration. lol
Ruthie- You need us badly. If your ironing that is just hitting the creative wall, lol.
Oh my gosh Bugga your grandbabies are so darn precious! Cuteness alert!
Debbie- Pinterest is just bad! ROFL! I have spent a lovely evening pinning ideas for my home, art studio and saving things for my husband's studio. I know doesn't sound so bad huh? I was supposed to be in my own art studio recreating it, lol.

Cuteness! It's so fun to sew for little girls! I was fortunate to have five daughters and a mom who taught me to sew, so I was in production mode for quite a few years and it never got old! I got reeeaaally good at using every little scrap of fabric, too, since I had a range of sizes to work with and could put big pieces next to little ones. Thanks for conjuring up happy memories!
I cannot even tell how many times this happens to me. I have so much stuff and most of the time I don't have the "right"
paper stamps even adhesives to make a card. So I go to the store ( Lucky to have Michael's and Joanns a mile up the road used to have Archivers 1/2 mile from my house) buy more stuff to make a card and end up using stuff I already have instead. :p

Also, when the mojo has gone to Maui I may clean and organize. Heck, I rather clean than iron. Heck, I'll clean a bathroom before I'll iron. LOL
Do they still make irons? I thought everyone used "Wrinkle Release Spray" LOL
or steamers lol ;)

My mojo got packed up in a box of cards to Operation Write Home. I have organized papers, stamps, my table and no spark of creativity. I have tried looking thru pinterest, craft magazines and nothing. I thought being away from table( gardening, cleaning, eating lot's of chocolate) a few days would have me itching to craft, but noooo. Now it's been 8 days. Maybe I should get out the iron? -LOL

This made me laugh out loud. My daughter was mad at me one time and I was so mad I ironed everything in the house. When I was looking for stuff to iron, she said under her breath "she will be ironing the toilet tissue next:!!
Your remark made me think of this and I just cracked up laughing. This happen when my daughter was a teenager and she is 40 this month.
Oh my goodness - I've never been so stumped I resorted to IRONING - you should have gone to the emergency room!
I know the feeling though - those Goldilocks moments are tough.
That's why my blog is called: Instead of Ironing Blogspot - I am so busy playing with my crafts that I just can't seem to get around to the ironing so my husband irons his own shirts!
Seriously, though, I have days like this. The day before I can be so productive and then suddenly, it's like my brain slams the door on my creativity and nothing flows: I can't make up my mind what image to use; I can't find paper that I like - uggh - but I have learned to walk away and not try and "force" my creativity. I do lots of other crafts like knitting, embroidery and sewing so I do them instead - or I clean up my Craft Room.

They're DARLING. The dresses AND the granddaughters!
What a fun thread! I'm glad to know I'm not the only 1 that hits a creative wall from time to time! I do sew, crochet, work in our flower beds, cook and several times have actually washed windows, cleaned out cupboards, etc. - but ironing?! Whoa! That's a major block. Good luck getting your mojo back. It seems to come faster when we don't force it!
I lost my mojo and was overwhelmed with so many supplies to play with and the actual time to do so!
I really feel this is part of the problem for some of us - I have so much kit now that trying to focus on one or two things is difficult, and I end up overwhelmed with too many vague ideas and no real inspiration!
Think I should just take a colour and a stamp and go from there...
I rely on inspiration for my ideas. No longer; am I wasting my time and supplies trying to come up with something to only be disappointed. pinterest is a great online source to view ideas; just do a search for your stamp set, there are tons of sketches; tutorials everything imaginable. then just add the ideas to folders, actually called boards and save for inspiration and future use.

I have found that my least creative times are often right after I buy a lot of new stamps. You'd think it would be just the opposite, but I find I tend to think of the money I just spent and the time I put in getting them trimmed and mounted and organized on panels and in my catalog and it puts pressure on me. I bought it! I spent all this time getting it ready to use! I should be using it! Right now!
I don't work well under pressure at all. Especially the kind I drum up myself. ;-)! That's the worst kind. I seem to go right to "You haven't made anything in a week, that's it, you're done, you've used up every good idea you are ever going to have and you will never make another card ever again!"
I sometimes do turn to organizing instead, but I find that can be dangerous. You (well, I) can get really over-involved in coming up with ever more wonderful organizing schemes and end up spending weeks and weeks just doing that. So I tend to try to walk away and do other things.
Even ironing. I actually find ironing very relaxing.
